waving a hand from Oregon.. white tundra's NEVER break down, and out of all the colors white ones come with an extra usable 50 H.P. due to the fact that they reflect sunlight and gamma rays, they have less coefficient drag that is caused by the sun, than the other colors.

On a more serious note, I kinda have the same back story, hoping this tundra I have,to be my last truck, hoping to get 10 to 20 years out of it.

    Hey that looks familiar.

    Nice truck!

White is the color to go with, especially in the south. It's cooler in the summer.

    Welcome!
I think most of the steps/nerf bars are rocker mount. The rockers are built with that in mind, i.e. they already have the holes and are reinforced sufficient to take the weight. I am 220 pounds and mine do not move at all when I jump on them. Mine are from Rough Country.

If I remember correctly that 78 Bonanza came with Scottsdale package, special paint colors, the 350V8, a heavy duty chassis, beefed up radiator, and a spiffed up dash. I bought a new 1977 GMC High Sierra short bed with the 454 V8 which was the highest output motor offered. Was only 245 HP stock but plenty of torque like the 350. My first vehicle with AC....I think I got around 8 mpg....Factory engineers had those engines totally dogged down to comply with new emissions standards. That 454 could put out 475 hp easy instead of only 245.

Oh man you're pulling on my memory. I know it was not badged as a Scottsdale, don't recall it's trim being that nice. That truck was used and abused, blew two motors in it but it has straight duals with glasspacks. She sounded GREAT.
I hauled a bag of grass seed in the front once, some split, before I knew it I had rye growing in the carpet! :headbang: Tilt wheel broke at some point, the steering wheel would wooble all over when turning and the horn would blow, I got flipped off more times than I like to think of... those were the days. (where's the Old Guy emoticon? )

Welcome Bob! I believe you will have no issue getting 20 years out of that beautiful truck. Got my 09 a month ago with only 72K miles on the clock. I intend to own this for a very long time.

Welcome! what brand of tool box are you getting? I'm debating on whether I should get a $700-$800 Weatherguard box or a $200-300 Husky/Kobalt/Northern Tool Box when i get my truck. hope you have a fun time with your Tundra!

My last box was UWS that lasted two trucks, it was probably 20 years old. Still functions fine but it's just not pretty enough for this truck. While I'd love to get one of those Weatherguard boxes, I just don't see a need to get that deep in one. Thinking I'd rather have a chest type, just unsure how they secure and I really don't want to drill holes in the bed of my brand new truck.

Yeah I'm not sure if I should go that deep into tool boxes in terms of price or not. Cause my main concern is tool security. I've known people who've owned the cheaper hardware store brand boxes and have had great experiences with them, but at the same time I've seen people's tools getting jacked using the lower end boxes. Thanks for the help lol
