So, just confirming, for the cost of shipping I can trade out my old non-DD exhaust for your system??? Or, was that just for @1lowlife to trade in his existing DD system for a different DD system?

Nope. You have to have a DD system to trade for another DD system. Lowlife has a DD system but was cut up when they stole his cats.

I wish I was about 5-10 years younger. I’m just old enough where a nice rumbly exhaust isn’t the priority it once was for my truck(s).

Having said that, if it ever became a priority / wish list again, there’s absolutely zero question for me to choose a dirty deeds exhaust. The knowledge, materials, craftsmanship appear to be second to none. Call him, tell him what you want, he makes it for you.

I’m really not aware of another company that even comes close to Keith’s level of customer service. Easy peasy.

Hi Keith, I have a message into you and Shandra. I went from your 10" system, to a 14" and now,for the third and final time, PRAYERFULLY, to your 20" system! Let me know if a PM on here would be better for you. I have a concern maybe you can help me with.

Are you going for electric vehicle quite? I had heard of a 14 but never a 20.

I'm sure Keith's 20' exhaust is QUITE QUIET. That's what I'm after. He lists mufflers up to 24 inches.

So I am guessing that you will now be quieter than stock with the 20”. May I ask why not just put the OEM back. What’s the point of a quite quite DD exhaust if not for sound?

I have a question for those who state drone. What exactly is the drone? The exhaust sound? Reason I ask is before my Tundra I was in the GM crowd and the word drone was used when the motors went from V8 to V4. The V4 caused the drone (helicopter sound was used often) when the muffler was changed. So on this site when I see the term drone, I wonder if it's the exhaust note. Is it because some just don't want to hear the exhaust all the time? For me, I'd love to hear the exhaust note all the time. Just curious as I am looking into exhausts myself but want to hear the exhaust note. Thanks

It’s like a low constant rumble type of sound. Kinda hard to put it in words. Kinda like driving in the highway with a older dodge Cummins, it’s a constant sound that after a while gets tiring to hear. Also drone is not the sound your exhaust makes, it’s a byproduct I would say. The exhaust you hear when accelerating is not the same as drone when cruising.

Hum into an empty bottle and imagine if it was louder and constant.

The stock system doesn't sound anywhere near as good as Keith's systems while under a load or at higher throttle. I've had ZOOM,CORSA and stock exhausts on my 06 and 2010 Tundra. Keith will explain the differences between the OEM system and his.

So even with a 20”, it’s still louder than OEM when underload or acceleration?

This is the most accurate way I've seen this described. It's not so much about the noise itself as it is the resonance in the vehicle. It's annoying as hell.

When I see people say they choose to not install the resonator with Keith's systems, it's a bit baffling to me. That's part of the high price you're paying and it only removes the drone and doesn't really affect the sound output.

I have had my fair share of exhausts also. I am 47, not young not old and I am also contemplating and exhaust. Sometimes I wish for a little rumble and other times I find myself cruising down the hwy in silence and love it. In my younger years I would have jumped all over a DD exhaust. Best of both worlds, rumble and no drone. Also TQ/HP increase. Today I stay below 2k rpm unless I am passing on the hwy. I will occasionally open her up but it’s a truck not a race car. So to me $1000+ for sound is not a top priority but still debating it. :frusty:

Granted it’s a dual system, but the TRD uses a pair of 26 inch long straight through mufflers that are 6 inch diameter compared to Keith’s 5 inch diameter canisters - and it sounds nothing like stock. I’ll defer to Keith, but I’m sure you’ll still hear the 20.

Did know the TRD where 26” long. What’s interesting is the the TRD still has a louder idle, where the DD 12 isn’t much louder than stock at idle. At least from the videos I have seen.

I am a couple years older than you but of similar mindset. I like the TRD because it reminds me of my old Nova and Chevelle - but true duals aren’t for everyone. I used to have the 12 inch BAM and I think you would like that if you ever decide to pull the trigger on an exhaust. Russ @biebs96 has the 12 so he can weigh in too.

I went from a 10" to a 14" and only noticed mostly loosing the 'rasp' on cold start. It's when towing or under load I need to get quieter than this 14" offers. I'm not interested in the sound at idle or cruising at normal, relaxed speeds. I'll make sure to ask Keith about the higher throttle sound- difference too.

I am sure I will but like I said $1000+ for sound is not top priority. I will think it over while on vacation in DR.

One reason I really enjoy having duals is because I want to be able to hear the tone more directly out of the drivers side exit and I always missed that with a passenger side single. I love the sound bouncing back against the highway barriers and the like. I also have a blower on my truck so the low end torque loss is no longer an issue for me. That said, my truck had TRD duals before I supercharged it and I had no torque complaints. Just another thing to consider, theres more to hearing the sound than just standing at the tailpipe and listening to someone rev it up. It’s hard to beat the sound delivery of duals from the drivers seat.

We discussed this back in November..
My BAM was cut when they stole my cats.
Y'all said you would fix the 10 for free, but charge me more to make a 12..

Still waiting (since November) to get my truck back to ship it to you.

What a perfect analogy for drone.

Before I found this forum and @dirtydeeds I had a 2 in 1 out Magnaflow install in my 2014 5.7.
It had drone from the living depths of HELL
It was great around town, but as soon as I hit the highway, it was bad.
So bad and loud it made me nauseous after 15 or 20 minutes of it.

    11992450-7BDC-4891-9197-F52F1BF10C3A_zps_f3d9ac4213031cf1b1cf43b48893bdbfb889ea9e.jpg

I found and called Keith, he suggested trying one of his Helmotz resonators and sold me one.
I got it, installed, and it killed the drone, although it knocked the sound back to stock.

Had him make me a custom 7, I could decide between 6 and 8.
Had my local shop (that installed the magnaflow) weld the tail pipe piece back on to be able to bolt the Bam in.
They did an embarrassing job, I ended up buying a new tailpipe from @Roman.
This is why I don't want the local yahoos fixing my BAM.

    411699B7-47CC-4AA7-91C2-C6CF3F3E29BF_zps_b61761a2c1593d2d1fa3a77f048daccb42e3edbb.jpg

Ran that 7, sounded just like an 8, for a couple of years.
It was a tad loud and raspy for me and swapped it for 10.

Had the 10 since maybe 2018 or so.
It sounds great, love the startup, I get compliments on it, but as I get older I'd like something a touch quieter.

Even with all my sound deadening, I think long trips with the wife would be nicer with a 12.
I think a 12 would be perfect and last me the lifetime of the truck, or my lifetime, whichever ends first..:eek2::cool:

Thank you. I'm looking into his 8" system or 6" system.
