UPDATE for my non-folding driver's side. I sent Boost the video of the mirror struggling to close. They said they were confident it was the circuit breaker and sent a replacement.

I pulled it off today and swapped the circuit breaker and it works fine now.

Does the OEM one have backlighting, or no?

    Something like this:

Install went well. Everything works except the right one won’t power fold. Double checked all wiring connections but I’ll check again.

Not sure if it means anything, but the power folded driver’s side mirror folds in a lot tighter than manually folding the passenger side mirror.

    Same.

I reached out to Boost with pics and tape measurements lol. I was told it is normal. See below:

I’ll contact them on Monday. I’ve rechecked all of my connections and feel confident that I installed them correctly.

I’ll bet you it’s a circuit breaker issue. See my posts a few above yours. They shipped me one out. Was about at 10 minute fix.

    Like Charles said, totally normal.
Even the factory tow mirrors are that way - the angle (if looking down at the roof of the truck) of the mirrors is different to allow the driver's position to see out of them correctly.

I had a question regarding the boost auto mirrors, I know the top section of mirror is power adjustable. How about the bottom section? is that manual only?

Can confirm that these do not have true DRL, the LED strip only comes on when parking/headlights are on when installed as Boost recommends. Work around for me was to fuse tap into one of the Ignition slots, not the Tail Light fuse as they recommend. Now the LED strip is lit anytime the truck is on. The switchback blinker works just fine doing this as well.

Working with Boost to get my issue resolved.

I have a feeling that they sent me the wrong passenger side mirror. I think they sent me one that doesn't power fold. My driver's side mirror will ONLY fold via power - meaning I can't just grab it and fold it manually from the exterior of the truck. However, the passenger side mirror will not power fold, and instead will ONLY fold manually. I can easily grab it and push it to the folded in position.

Can anyone else with the power fold option confirm that their mirrors cannot be manually folded in?

    Thanks.
    Jeff

Thanks. It wasn't crystal clear to me and I noticed several others seemed to be a little confused as well. Boost's website also kinda makes it confusing when they refer to them as "running lights". I called Boost and they confirmed no true DRL. I asked their thoughts on tapping into another slot, while they did say that is probably fine...they wouldn't go as far as recomending it as they have only validated the taillight slot (expected response).

My power fold mirrors can also be manually folded no problem.

    Update:

The great folks at BAP asked me today to remove the mirror and take a picture of the inside/mounting side of the mirror so they could verify that they shipped me the correct one. I removed the door panel, disconnected and unmounted the mirror, took the picture, then reassembled it. Luckily it works now! I am guessing the connector wasn't properly seated before and making a good connection, but it all seems perfect now. Yay!

Thanks for the follow up. Can’t wait to order a set myself but waiting on a discount. These mirrors are like $1000 with all the add ons.

They have been running sales during the major holidays. They range from about 10% off to 20% off for the Tundra mirrors. I'll post in this thread next time they email about a discount

They’re definitely spendy. I went with all of the options and they were over $1300.

Oh wow, I guess I miscalculated it, $1400 is quite the cost for side mirrors but well worth it since I haven’t seen anyone regret the purchase. I’ll wait for the 20% off to knock off $200. How are you liking it so far.

I’m still deciding. I miss the puddle lights and auto dimming. The running lights seem really bright at night, as do the reverse floods. They do vibrate more than my stock mirrors but it’s acceptable.

These are the prices to pay though for a better view and in that, they deliver with fewer compromises than the competition.

I think I just need more time with them.

That is how the truck is wired from the factory - if you install OEM tow mirrors they function the same way.

Technically, you CAN manually fold them, but they resist pretty hard. The power fold mirrors have a safety mechanism that will still let them fold over manually if pushed hard enough to prevent from damaging the motor. This isn’t just in the boost mirrors - all of them will. But the resistance is significantly greater than a non-power fold mirror

Thanks. Once I got the mirrors functioning properly and cycled them with power, they both were no longer easy to fold, so I think all is as it should be now. I'm just so happy to have them working as they should!
