Same here broke a record...it was at 26" before the wind started blowing so I really don't know what we got. All I do know is, I got the 1 ton dump stuck twice and almost got the backhoe stuck trying to retrieve the dump truck! My 1st gen Tacoma was the winner of the night also, it was the only vehicle that I didn't have to back up and plow into a snow bank to move. Tundra was great with a-trac...just a little big to maneuver, Subaru Outback was great, until I couldn't see the driveway backing up and literally drove it into 2' of untouched snow. I got it out, glad wife wasn't here to witness what her car can do with traction control off and hitting rev limiter:).

So we got about 18-20 inches total here in North Central CT, hard to tell with the drifts from the wind. The state and town trucks did a great job cleaning it up throughout the day and on my way back into work today the roads were mostly clear. Now to let the tundra thaw out in the apparatus bay while I'm at work.

I have to work, no such thing as a snow day in the fire service.... but for everyone else the governor in CT put in a travel ban, so no traffic was allowed on the roads from 5AM-5PM. Essential personnel are allowed to drive during the ban. So pretty much just Fire, EMS, Police, Hospital, and Plow drivers are allowed out. its a $92 fine if you get caught driving under the ban. If you get paid on a day like today is up to your employer.

I'm blessed. I work in an industrial fire department, so we have a contractor that clears all our hydrants, PIV's and stand pipe connections and I volunteer in my home town where we have an ordinance that the home owner has to clear hydrants on their property. They are pretty good about it, so we don't have to clear many of them on top of that I live in an un-hydranted part of town so most of our area is tanker shuttle and drafting operations (however drafting out of a frozen pond or river isn't much fun either).

We need an idiot ordnance when blizzards come through Colorado. Seems to me that when 20+" of snow falls, all the morons in minivans with bald tires come out in house coats and slippers for a pack of cigarettes.

Only good legislation lately is the new chain/tire law. They have been enforcing that 600.00 fine.

All the smart people stay home with the exception of going to work or an emergency (pack of cigarettes doesn't count, haha)

No need to be on the road getting stuck and crashing when emergency responders already have their hands full.

Steve, common sense applies here, and there's a lack of it everywhere, especially here where I live. I will give the benefit of the doubt as they say , because we don't get snow often, but in your case where the residents deal with a good amount of snow every year.......Unacceptable

20" here...hard to tell with all the drifting snow. Went out plowing at 3:30 PM and got back after four hours of plowing and two slide off recoveries. The went out again around 11:00 PM, another couple hours and back out at it at 4:00 AM. Now sitting in my warm office still in my flannel lined khakis.

Almost identical story for me. About 18" and then another 4" of wet heavy slop over night. That shit is like cement when you're pushing it. Tundra 5.7 eats it up though if you're smart about it. I only got stuck once, and it was pure ice.

I was just talking to my dad, who got his F-350 with a service body and lift stuck. I slid around a bit trying to place my piles where I wanted them and had to get a head start for some of the heavier piles I dragged back, but otherwise the truck did just fine. I am hoping for less traction issues next year once the Duratracs are on there. These factory tires leave very little traction with the horsepower needed to move some of this stuff. With the temps today its going to be VERY solid soon. Hopefully we don't get another Stella type ass handing in the next couple of weeks. I'm about out of room for piles.

Do people (other than kids) get days off for snow? (Joke...642 cancellations listed on the local news website yesterday) We closed the bank a little early but where we finance heavy equipment our guys were out plowing. Looking back at the call logs we had one phone call after 10:45 yesterday. But getting out of my real job doesn't mean I get to go watch cartoons and drink hot cocoa. ;)

We got about 26 inches since the storm started - a lot of it was lake effect after the storm passed. We're supposed to get 4-8" more today in lake effect. Don't really mind the snow but prefer it in Jan-Feb, not March. Need spring to "spring". We get snow regularly here (likely to clear 140" this season which is about normal) and we get used to driving in it. However, there are always the idiots going too fast and riding on crap tires. Darwin takes care of them eventually. Unfortunately, they sometimes crash into innocent people.

4" passes instead of 24" took a little bit of extra time. Even 4" (at 18"+) was gumming up the auger. Ugh.

Yup...I have done it twice - yesterday after work and this morning before leaving for work. And will probably have to snow blow tonight after the lake effect stops. Fortunately, we have snow blowers, unlike some of the guys along the coast who have to dig out by hand.

For real. My driveway is about 6 cars long by 2 cars wide. Had to blaze a trail with a shovel just to get the blower through without smoking the motor.
Couldn't do that whole driveway by hand so I've gotta baby that craftsman.
