For anyone curious of my method:

Make sure you clean the area well, in between the letters and such, then let dry completely.

    1. Tape it off with about an inch to spare around the object you are dipping. You can see that in my pics. Spray the entire area when you spray, so you have a thick layer to peel when you peel off the excess. Otherwise it just tears and causes issues.
    2. First coat you want to spray about 50% coat. Meaning you see about 50% of the chrome shining through.
    3. Wait 10-15 mins between coats.
    4. Next coat is full coverage. Spray like paint with 50% overlap of each pass.
    5. After first coat, spray next coat at and out slight downward angle to get the top edge of the badge. Repeat this for slight upward angle, right angle and left to get full coverage.
    6. Do a final coat . Hit any areas you might have not got enough coverage one.
    7. Wait at least 20-30 mins to start peeling away excess. This is where I messed up. Only waited 10 mins after last coat and messed up my SR5 badges a bit. I plan to redo them in the next day or so.
    7. Use a wooden toothpick to get the dip out of the inside of letters like the D, R, and A.
    8. Use a microfiber cloth wipe any over spray off the car that might have got past you tape job.

I am doing the whole grille and if I don't like it, I will peel off the surround and do paint match vinyl. I am doing the vinyl wrap on the bumper caps as well.

What do you plan on doing to the bumpers?

Those would look bad ass with some black wrap.

Great start on making the truck yours.

I am actually planning on doing vinyl wrap, but paint match it. My rear bumper is paint matched, so I thought it would be nice symmetry. I found this vinyl that is probably as close as I can get. Even if it isn't an exactly match, it won't actually be touching the paint, so I don't think it will be noticeable. f94864b94599f3707f320b5fe32b2b43_e1cd38a6fd33a7aae335663bf6d20560be22d00c.jpg

It is Avery Dennison SW-900-803-M. I ordered a sample to see how it match because a guy on facebook recommended it. He had Silver Sky Metallic (code 1D6) paint on his Tundra as well and said it matched pretty well.

Thanks! Think I might have to order either a sample or small sheet and see for myself how close this stuff matches.

In my opinion, it matches even better in person than it does in the picture. It's like $2.99 for a sample.
