    For what it's worth....OEM tailgate steel is thin. The 1/8" aluminum cover backing beefs it up a bit.

    Hey!

    It's us again.

    If you're the type of person who cares about where they're buying products from, read on. If you're not, feel free to go back to defrosting that microwave dinner. JK.

    So here's the cliff note version:

    BillieBars was founded in 2020 by 2 everyday dudes that worked together.

    I'm Nate (the self proclaimed overlanding idiot). Bill is my partner - and really the genius behind BillieBars (mechanical engineer/mad scientist).

    I'll take credit for the shockingly obvious naming for the company, which took about 3 weeks of convincing on my end.

    We probably like a lot of the same things you do. A good beer after a long, hard day. A drive to somewhere we've never been. A conversation with a buddy or family member on the phone. A good recipe to try on the grill. And most importantly, bragging to our friends about our trucks.

    We've grown a lot as a company in 2.5 years. The two biggest accomplishments in our mind?
    • Being American Made, through and through
    • Hiring our first time full employee, Sawyer, who is an active Staff Sergeant in the PA Army National Guard - thanks for your service and hard work, Sawyer!
    What does BillieBars mean to us?

    Well, we're not really interested in a quick buck (if we were, we would have quit a LONG time ago). We're interested in a lasting brand. A brand that fits in the same conversation as freedom, adventure, and reliability. We're that neighbor who always is there for you, who actually shows up on moving day, and gets it DONE.

    Some of the highlights of the last 2.5 years?
    • Learning how to actually use power tools via Bill's tutelage
    • Building relationships in the industry - shout out to Sammy from Truck Hero :)
    • Helping the BocaWarrior turn his Ridgeline into a BillieBars billboard
    • Appearing on Motortrend's MotorHead Garage
    • Seeing a set of BillieBars in the wild!

    Got my Z1 Offroad "Advanced Induction System" on. Took me an hour or so to install. Top notch. Well thought out. Not your average CAI. Not even remotely close. Dyno torque gain results actually have real world meaning.

    I mainly got it for the torque gains. No other aftermarket comes close. I get decent enough mpg's already. I'm going on a short trip tomorrow and will keep track of my mpg's.

    My OVS awning arrived at work after I left. Was supposed to be AM delivery. F FedEx. My "build" is finally happening. Still need to swap in my 5100's. Going to keep my lift modest for my needs. Cancelled NISMO UCA's. Won't be needed. I can squeeze some taller tires in at some point. Maybe........

    Got time to roll out my OVS awning. Quite pleased. Quality is top notch. Easy to put up. I'm ordering another one for the passenger side. OVS has a lot of accessories. A couple on the way. I highly recommend checking out their site.

    Get it..... highway mpg was 1.3 improvement. Hand calculated after a 200 mile trip. I-25 mostly. Cruise set at 75 when I could. Overall 1.3....wasn't expecting that at all.

    That was only a short trip. I'll be making longer trips to my off grid property a lot starting Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. I'll have a better indication of mpg gains. I know my 3.8 likes the additional air flow.

    Picked up a Badlands ZXR 9500 for $290 today! Harbor Freight is having a Spring Black Friday sale going on this weekend. Picking up a winch cradle tomorrow. This will be used on occasion on my rear hitch. I'll be using my spare RedTop as the power source. No need for an expensive front winch bumper. Don't want the added weight and expense. $$$$

    Badlands winch ready to go. Not going to use my spare RedTop after all. Setup purpose pic only. It's really a high crank starter battery. Not deep cycle. I'm going with a lead acid deep cycle marine battery. They have high AH and super high reserve. The one I'm looking at is 210 reserve and 140 AH. $160. 1 year warranty which is typical for a marine battery. I'll pay for a modest priced extended warranty.

    Coleman is currently having their annual Spring sale. Scored a great deal on a Northern Nova 3000 lumen propane lantern. Not easy to find without paying $$$. Got a nice big and tall -0.5 canvas sleeping bag for $44 off. Highly recommend checking out Coleman's sale.

    Picked up a great deal on a Camp Chef Sportsman X2 14 at Sportsman Warehouse today. Two 30K BTU burners. Plenty. Came with carrying bag. Weaning myself off the little green bottles. Too expensive now. Better to go bulk with the 20 pound.

    I have 5+ off grid acres at 8K+ feet. Can get freaking cold in the morning. Windy as heck at night. Afternoon thunderstorms are always a bitch. Planning on spending a lot of time there starting Memorial Day weekend thru early November. Not to mention other off grid places near me. High up...Colorado has a lot of high up places.....
    We have mountain road passes 12000+ feet higher than Mass. I'll never be "that guy" that didn't prepare! :mudding:

    Added a quite decent Apex 8 ton rated winch shackle. Already have the Apex 6 ton optional forged 3.5" hook. The OEM hook is ok. I like having options....this thimble was only $30 on sale.
