I have a 2019 Tundra Cement Gray. I just replaced my chrome grille with the 2017 TRD Pro Cement gray Grille. The only thing I have left in chrome is the front bumper ends.
I have a body shop that is willing to sandblast both chrome ends and color match it to the cement body color.
I'm also debating on powder coating it black so the whole front bumper will be black . Does anyone have a Cement Color Tundra with the older TRD Pro grill and a blacked out bumper that can post the picture . I have see it with the Honeycomb grille and a blacked out bumper but never seen one with the older Pro grille . Please post it if you have one. OEM front bumper please. Not after market bumper.

Thanks Joon. I've seen the matching before, but I would like to see the OEM Blacked out on a cement Gray with the older PRO grille .

I kind of agree with you. The only time I have seen it look good in all black is on the sand color tundras.

How much was the sandblast, paint quote? You can do the bumper caps from sparks for $570 plus some YouTubers discount. Curious because I am in the same boat. Thanks!

I honestly don't wanna go with bumper caps. For couple of reasons. 1- I just don't like the idea of double tape. I know that on one side it will be screwed in but the from side will be held by a double sided tape. It might be fine for you, but I'm OCD and I like things done correctly once. 2- after a while, I think thing will start getting stuck in between the chrome and the covers. and lastly, I'd rather have metal than plastic.
Sandblast and paint $250 total. That's much better than having the plastic covers and I never have to worry about it.
You can look up a member on this forum "Knucklehd? . he did the same . He is been helping me with this process. Thanks to him.

I agree with your points. Also, 250 seems like a very good price

That's awesome and solid reasoning. That is also half the price. I bet the hardest part will be finding a body shop to do this but it will be worth the effort. Thanks for passing this along!!

Why not just get some colour matched wrap or vinyl and have the chrome wrapped? All the colour matched stuff in the dealerships here including my wifes grill is chrome under the colour matched wrap

Vinyl wrap for the cement color trucks? Feel like black and white trucks, that would work. Haven’t heard cement but that’d be great if so.

Mine is more of a charcoal grey I have been debating if I can get rid of the chrome without spending huge $$ . Colour match the front bumper, ( all of it) door handles and mirrors Wrap hood bulge and grill to all black except for emblem and wrap the rims. Im not sure if the wrapping the rims would work or not. I cant justify spending money on new rims. I like the rims but the colour sucks
Graphics guys can print just about anything on wraps I would think they should be able to colour match it.

There's no cement color vinyl wrap to match exactly with the body. Only option is to paint it

Can the graphics guys not colourmatch it and then print it onto vinyl like they do with all the truck signs and stuff

Not sure. But I'm paying $250 to sandblast and paint the Chrome ones . That's the best option in my opinion. It's metal . I will never go back to chrome . So what's the point of just covering it with plastic . I like things done right and I don't have to worry about it anymore

I did talk to a vinyl guy yesterday since they have a shop attached to our local car wash. I had never heard this but he said even if they did have wrap to match, which they don't, he wouldn't recommend wrapping a chrome bumper because of the heat. He said the bumper will get real hot in the summer potentially causing the wrap to bubble. He recommended powder coating.

So seems like getting them properly painted, either sandblasting then painted or powder coating is the best bet. Do it right, do it once.

Powder coating is by far the best and most durable. That was my first choice. But they cannot color match like they do in regular paint. Paint is the way to go unless you wanna go black or any other powder coating . Bu color match is the best look. Black is only for after market bumpers then it's fine. I will post a picture of mine when done

Interesting... I wonder why toyota would wrap a chrome grill if heat is a problem? Maybe not a problem with plastic? Also it would seem to me that painting a plastic grill would be cheaper than having it chromed and then wrapping it. I found it really weird that they would wrap the chrome parts to match the truck especially since the chrome shines right thru any stone chips. Has anyone else noticed this? Could this be specific to Ontario or Canada

Single piece wrap absolutely has the chance of doing that. Multi piece wrap is more time consuming but it factors in warp stress to where the heat does the exact opposite...it pulls the wrap tighter and seals it in.

Warranties on wrap jobs done on chrome are little to nothing (like a year) vs multi year warranties on painted panels that are wrapped.

All of that being said and even though I have wrapped bumper caps, powder coating/painting will always be the superior option. No contest.
