??? Looking for input - Baja Designs or Rough Country LED Lightbar ???

Picked up an SSO slimline bumper - looking forward to it. Having second thoughts on the Baja Designs lightbar that's coming with it, though, b/c of the premium pricing.

Paid $679 for the 30" Baja designs lightbar:
    - MSRP $850 (from Baja's site) - so I got a $171 discount on SSO's website which is good
    - 19,050 lumens

for a 30" Rough Country lightbar:
    - MSRP $260 (from RC's website)
    - 27,000 lumens

From the huge difference in the price (RC is over $400 cheaper) to the huge difference in the lumens (RC is almost 8,000 lumens brighter), RC is far and above the winner.

Rough Country lightbar I'm looking at: https://www.roughcountry.com/30-inch-led-light-bar-70930blkdrl.html
Baja Designs lightbar that's coming with the SSO bumper: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/S8-LED-Light-Bars-Product-Page.asp

I have zero experience w/ lightbars, though, and have no idea about the quality of either manufacturer. Thus....thoughts???

Lots of BD fanboys here. If I were a Baja racer or used my light bar all the time, I would not mind paying more but these prices for some of these light bars are nuts

Cool, thanks. Can you elaborate? Why Baja hands down?

(technically not hijacking this thread, btw. I bought this on a Black Friday sale :) )

if you wheel hard or live where it’s wet, BD is probably the best option.

BUT, for that cost and lumens difference— especially if you don’t wheel hard— you could get the RC, then buy up to BD down the road if you become aware of shortcomings of the RC. Will the RC bar fit into that bumper as well?

I don’t wheel hard & prob never will very often.
Length-wise it’ll fit. The RC is about an inch more height so I have to call SSO to get specs on the bumper’s lightbar cut-out to see if it’ll fit.

Sounds like BD is much higher quality.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.

IMO, it's not about being a fanboy, its about quality. It's the buy once, cry once mentality.

Don't buy aux lighting based on lumens alone...Consider the spread (width of light), and throw (length and tightness of beam) downrange.
'And perhaps most importantly...the IP and IK ratings. IP - Water/moisture and dust resistance and IK - Mechanical Impact
RC is IP67. BD is IP69K (Waterproof up to 9ft & Pressure Washable) and IK10 Compliant

I agree with some of the other comments that extent of use could certainly sway a decision.
By way of you buying a SSO bumper, I'll assume you're not mall crawling. Either way, I would hate to install (any) lightbar and later have moisture issues, or worse yet, hit something with your bumper while OR and your lightbar can't survive the impact.

Lastly, other than racing applications, consider that many of the OR rigs used by our SF and DoD are outfitted with BD lights.

I sure wish I could find a decent night shot of the Baja designs S1 light. I've only seen one picture and it was far away. I've had them in my cart with rago fab, but can't make myself buy them without knowing exactly what I'm buying!

BD had a BF sale, not sure if it’s still going, but they quoted a great discount (lower than BD lets be published) AND purchases are eligible for the BD mail-in rebate. Worth another $100 discount on the lightbar I ordered. Maybe email Rago, see if they can get you to a pic, and if the sale is still active.

So at this point in the weekend, are you:

    1) Hoping Cyber Monday is better than Black Friday
    2) Tapped out; going offline for Cyber Monday
    3) CC's are smoking, but not melted; bring on Cyber Monday!

I've bought a few small things, but otherwise a pretty solid #1.

I haven't bought a single thing! Every time I go to hit the buy button on something, a little voice in the back of my head asks, do you really need that....?
I'm thinking about smacking her and telling her to go make me a sammich, so I can get something ordered!

I bought the thing I waited since last BF to buy, and was grateful to be able to buy anything I *need* at a discount. But otherwise, pretty much can’t spend more.
Adulting is a good thing, seldom seen around here. Good for you!
get ahold of @eccracer104 at Auto Anything. He’ll probably be able to beat any other price you find, but in a quote by PM. He already hooked up another guy back a few pages in this thread.
