Black center caps on 1st gen silver alloys

    Does anyone have black or other colors on the original tundra alloys? My center caps are faded and chipped and figure I can’t match the color.

    pics please. Or color matched option? I have these.

    A couple of people on here have done theirs in black. One person refinished with (IIRC) Duplicolor's "wheel refinish" in silver, very recently. @N84434 also refinished his with silver metallic and Duplicolor clear. PHM used Duplicolor Aluminum wheel paint. There's quite a few threads about it on here.

    Dont try to match, paint the wheels & center caps fresh. A little more prep goes a long way.

    Oh, and all-black too, which I think looks like ass, but I've also been around long enough I remember when black wheels were used exclusively for trailers, spares, and were also on every basic bone-stock no-option base model vehicle. I'll never understand why it's so popular, but it works... sometimes. I don't think what I'm about to link works, but everyone has their own style.

    FYI: Dupli-Color EBTY16027 "Toyota Lunar Mist Metallic" was an exact match for the center caps on my 2001 5-spoke/star wheels (like the OP posted).

    I found a chrome shop that'll copper plate mine, but not the centercaps, so i'll have to make a decision then...

    Also check junkyards near you. I have the same wheels as you with the same ugly-azz peeling center caps. I was looking for a matched wheel for my spare to do a 5-tire rotation, and the one I got had a perfect center cap on it. The others were gone but it might be worth a shot if you don't want to repaint like @AnnDee4444 above recommends.

    I repainted my wheels and caps in March, using DupliColor Acrylic Lacquer Silver and Acrylic Lacquer Clear. I did lots of prep work and they came out fantastic. I was considering painting them a different color, possibly a very dark gray, but I'm very happy that I went with a stock-like finish. This is my own opinion, but I think it's very hard to make these trucks look good with black wheels, and having the bright silver finished wheels like OEM really make it look like a brand new truck.

    Repaint work starts with that reply, and rolls into the one immediately after. And yours was the exact reply I was looking for earlier. I knew someone posted recently about the refinishing wheels, but I couldn't find the damn reply.
