Well, it has bounced back, this is why you cannot "freak-out" about major market fluctuations with Cryptocurrencies.
Because I am bored and I have this song stuck in my head from this Youtube video.

    Ahem Ahem

    " I've got this CryptoCurrency
    It don't go to school
    because it works
    because it works
    Because it works, works, works
All she does is work, work, work"

If anyone can tell me the video I am referring to I would be surprised. Most of you will not know what the hell I am talking about, that is ok though, I am literally Laughing out loud at my desk right now.

The fact that it is volatile is the primary reason so many people love it. I made a 50% gain on XRP yesterday. I might buy in more with another dip. I think XRP is poised to explode over coming months.

I actually did not buy anymore, yesterday, I should have. I am not a fan of Ripple. Centralized... I have ethical issues with it.

Yeah. At least through Coinbase. I believe a few months ago when I first did it they estimated a week and took the entire time.

Back in 2014, I don't recall any wait time.

I've started to keep some USD in coinbase for this reason. They let you have a USD wallet. So you can keep your dollars in there, ready to buy crypto if you please, else you can just take it back out.

I'm going to add some to the wallet then. I was hoping the long wait was just for the first time.

There is a couple different ways to do it.

    Buy with credit card.
Pro - Instant. You buy now and get your coins now
    Cons - Highest fees

    Buy with bank account
Pro - You get to lock in your price at the current price with no wait.
Con - Second highest fees. You have to wait 7 to 8 days for the funds to clear before you get your coins so if the coin tanks you can not do anything until it clears (this can also be a pro so you don't freak out and sell at a loss)

Transfer from your bank account to buy later
Pro - Least fees and can be none. (Must use gdax instead of coinbase for this to be true. They are the same thing just coinbase is with training wheels so they rape you on fees). You get your coins the minute you buy because you don't have to wait for the funds to clear)
Cons - You have to plan ahead.

If you plan on buying more in the future i recommend sending the money now to buy when there is a dump again. Planing ahead saves you money in fees.

    No Sir

Coinbase Usually takes a while. It was a 1 week wait not long ago. I recommend buying Ethereum instead of bitcoin it is much cheaper to transfer and it has been more stable than BTC lately. I highly recommend Binance.com
All of the others I have tried were not too great, cryptopia was not bad...

You can also buy from sites like Coinmama or Changelly with a credit card. Yes, there are fees.

Crypto currencies are going to be highly scrutinized soon and possibly regulated due to the widely fluctuating prices and uncertainty built into the process. Bitcoin has dropped something like 50% since early December. I rarely hear anything positive from reputable financial/economic sources. Seems to me more miss than hit. No thanks.

That's a very small window. Expand that a little, and Bitcoin is up 1,180% in the past year.

My concern is that the feds are concerned and worried that unless regulated like stock trades lots of folks are going to get screwed.

Oh, I can guarantee alot of folks will get screwed. But that's what's so great. Not the screwed part, but that it's the wild west.

I agree but thinking there is going to be a crackdown on the wild west factor sooner or later.

I guess the crackdown starts when the fed wants to make a buck or two?

Not me, but I also haven't cashed any out. If you have only put in - but not taken any back out into USD, no tax to pay yet, right?!

Correct. Last year Crypto to Crypto transactions where not counted so unless you went to USD you have no tax. Next year Crypto to Crypto transactions are counted so if you buy Eth with Bitcoin its like you sold the Bitcoin to USD and bought the ETH with USD and taxed.

At about the time this thread started I was making thousands in bitcoin and litecoin but when the whales in the futures markets decided to get involved I got the hell out...The whales can manipulate the markets they play in to benefit themselves and screw the little guys like me and you...today bitcoin is about 10500 and when I was playing around with it it was almost 20000...I started seeing huge trades that I had never seen before and it was driving the prices down so when it got to 15k I said enough and got the hell out....and just like I thought it has become very volatile and never recovered its value...at the beginning of 2017 bitcoin was about 750 and in December was almost 20k...I think the only way to make money now is to sit at your computer all day and day trade...buy low and sell high and beware of the bubble

I know I'm new here but before you continue to troll this thread from your mothers basement maybe you should do some research on crypto currencies...But just from what I have seen here I predict that you are one of those people that can never admit they are wrong...well I will tell you right now you are WRONG!....and if your not willing to do a little open minded research maybe you should just go back to whatever thread you normally hang out at and bully people.

I've got an ex-coworker who did just that. He didn't just quit. His uncle is a fairly successful day trader for quite some time. My friend got confident enough to go on his own. I hear he is doing alright.

As I've been following the discussion with some amusement, I'm going to jump in and say I've been reading about building a mining machine. I'm not really interested in the whole thing for the money, I just want to build the box to run it. I'm kinda nerdy that way.
Anyway, back to your name calling and finger pointing boys. :duel:

I just don't have the knowledge to do that and also now every trade you make has to be documented to the IRS...How in the world do you keep up with that....and also now if you trade one currency for another that has to be documented and taxed also...Wayyyyyy over my head....I wish your friend the best of luck...if bitcoin drops far enough I just might buy some more
