Replaced the chrome SR5 grill with the black SR grill.
    Hi all,

Bought my new Tundra on Monday - my 47th birthday. Hopefully this takes care of the midlife crisis itch - the new red Mustang didn't cut it, I guess.

I told the salesman at the local Toyota dealer here in Boise that I wanted a base SR double cab with a 5.7L and 4WD, and that I knew NO ONE had one of those available off the lot (which was required for 1.9% financing). I told him that there was no way I would pay more than $35k for a Tundra with a bunch of crap on it that I didn't need or want, so we ended up meeting half way - I ended up paying $36k for the blue SR5 TRD Offroad 4X4 double cab with a 5.7L. According to TrueCar, it was a really good deal, even though the salesman seriously padded the TrueCar build page with a bunch of stuff that wasn't even on the truck... I did the TrueCar thing myself and it was still a great deal, so I went for it. 1.9% financing is NICE.

I only have one pic of it which I took at the dealership right after I made the deal. The pic is outdated, though, since I had the dealer swap out the chrome grill for a base SR grill they had on the lot - the black grill looks SO MUCH better (IMO) than the chrome. I still have some de-chroming to do - and it is a top priority.

    Pic below:

:woot: Great deal and welcome to the forum from CO. One small disclaimer though, joining this site won't end the mid-life crisis. Once you see all the cool looking trucks in here you'll realize the spending ain't over :( You'll see and want things you didn't even think you wanted. So if you don't want to spend any more money, get off this site STAT!! LOL.

I don't mind spending the money, I just didn't want all those extras that Toyota charges for stuff I can do myself for a fraction of the cost. I would have been fine with a base SR double cab with 4WD and a 5.7L.

I've been on the site actively looking for mods, btw. :D Looking forward to it!

Looking forward to that. I did try Tow/Haul Ass Mode (which was awesome), but I didn't turn off the nannies - I didn't even know about asshat mode until I read that thread last night.

    Welcome from NoCo....great looking truck.

Not sure it it'll scratch the midlife crisis itch, but who knows. Couple of hotrods in the garage, boat, Tundra and fly around this rock at 525 mph and I'm still scratchin'. Well, at least that's what I tell my wife when I see something cool :boink:

Have fun with it....the available mods on these things seem endless
