Looking at getting a weed eater, and wondering what you guys/gals use, and what you think the best weed eaters are? Thanks in advance!!

For what it's worth, I bought an echo and wish I had gotten a stihl. The echo I have wont rev very high, emissions have it choked down.

I have a Echo straight shaft from HD . I 've been using this going on 12+ years. Starts on 2nd pull every time. Echo is lighter and quiter than Stihl plus less expensive. Depending on how your using it could factor in. I cut properties on the side, so went with a light commercial grade @ $199. They are still the same price today. They have a full commercial grade @ $ 250 or so. You can't go wrong with Stihl either, just found the Echo to suit my needs better. Good luck.

Give "EGO" products a look. Sold on Amazon and Home Depot. For a battery, they are insane. My EGO unit is more powerful than my old Stihl gas powered. So good I bought the hedge trimmer, and am going to get the chainsaw soon. My buddy has the mower and its awesome.

And once you go battery, you can ignore all these posts about "maintenance" :)

Had my Husqvarna from Lowe's now for 11 years no problems at all. Starts on the second pull every time. Last year I put a new spark plug and air filter in it just because.

I went from Stihl to Echo. I liked the Stihl a lot better. Thinking about going back and getting another one.

Thank you for all the replies. I have been looking at Echo, Husky, and Stihl so far. Just gonna be using it for my own yard, maybe get a light commercial or something. Don't mind spending some $$ to get a product that will last a while and not break down on me. I don't want the cheapest, and I don't want the most expensive........just something that will be reliable and ready to get the job done.

I own stihl and echo 2 stroke products and have been happy with both. Take care of them and they'll last you forever. For a string timer, make sure you get straight shaft. The curved shaft will destroy your back in a hurry if you're over 5'6" and the straight shaft can be used as an edger along sidewalks, patios and other small areas. I wouldn't try to do my mulch bed borders with it, but for cleaning up the lines, it works very well.

Additionally, the only fuel I'll run in any them is the premixed no ethanol stuff. True Fuel, VP, etc.

I have the Ryobi expandit attachment weed eater and edger. They work great for my little yards. Depending on what size of place you have the need for one, it could work for you. The batteries fully charged work for about an hour. 3 hour charge to full. But doesn't slow down, keeps going full speed untill dead. Plus each attachment come with another battery, so pottentially I can do my whole place in one day with both batteries charged.

I have an Echo SRM 266-T that is at home for personal use. We have Stihl FS-111 at work, and for what it's worth, I'll take my Echo all day long over the Stihls.

Shindaiwa, but make sure you get a true shindaiwa and not a rebranded Echo. Echo bought out Shindaiwa a few years back because they didn't have the tech to meet the new emissions and Shindaiwa did. I have had a t231 for 10years and its been awesome. I see a lot for Stihl, I cant stand there trimmers..the carbs do not seem to last on them and I dislike the overall feel of them. Try out a few different trimmers if you can before you purchase.

Had my Stihl (2stroke) for 22 years of strong service and still going strong today. Bought a Milwaulkee battery powered one last year because it came as a combo kit with the hedge trimmer I wanted. Thing is nice! No mixing or stinking like gas. Pretty quiet with lots of power man.

I work for the largest commercial landscape company, we use Red Max for our larger properties but are starting to use more electric equipment due to noise ordnance’s. Most manufacturers are making electrics like Stihl, Dewalt, Ryobi, Ego etc they really work pretty good and are a lot lighter and quieter, you know in case the mrs or kids want to use
