It’s all DIY, although a breaker bar, cordless impact drill and torque wrench makes things easier. If installing Timbrens like me, a jack and stands help to separate the leaf from the frame.

There’s already a harness in the Tundra tow package under the steering wheel, you just need the P3 adapter, and P3 controller itself of course. I only put the P3 sitting on the center console, no permanent install.

You could probably buy everything from etrailer.

The key is to have both TV and TT level. Prevent sag/sway/bobbing in the TV and the towing experience is much better. You don’t want a fish tailing trailer.

This is the way to go if you want a new camper. We bought our last two this way. The 2019 models came out in ~April 2018 so dealers should be looking to offload their new 2018s now. We bought a 2014 Jayco Jayflight Swift 184bh in April of 2014 and got $4,800 off MSRP since they wanted to make room for their 2015s. It's been four years since we bought ours but I assume the same logic still applies. As many others have said, CL is another good way to go.

I have to ok agree with you. I'm glad we did the brand new with a warranty. Just got ours back last Saturday for warranty work. They replaced the awning, 4 stabilizer Jack's and all the counter tops for free. I've got 1 month of warranty left. I searched C.L. for 6 months looking for a fiberglass hybrid. And I gave a couple thousand more than a 5-10 year old used one.

those Baja trailers are nice :)

For you Socal guys, there are few RV dealers along the 405 in OC. Costa Mesa/ Fountain Valley area.
They also have those RV shows all over L.A. couple times a year. They give great discounts at those shows. My buddy bought his toy haulers there

There are several options to help with rear sag. For trucks with permanent loads, those people usually get extra leafs or helper leafs.

For those that occasionally tow, there are Sumo's vs Timbrens vs Airbags.

    9537ba563c3d0eeca557091e4cacddfc.jpg image.jpg firestone-ride-rite-air-helper-spring-installation-2009-toyota-of-toyota-tundra-air-bags.jpg

The first 2 are install and forget about it, they are supposed to have 1 to 1.5" of free space. In theory when not towing, they ride like stock IF roads were perfectly flat without speed bumps and potholes. We know roads aren't and you'll smack them once in a while (it's like having giant tall bumpstops). Blue Sumo's are more forgiving, Timbrens have a harsh rebound. I went with Tims because I have 1.5" lift in the back, and 3" of free space because I remove the spacers when not towing, ie; they never hit (when towing, you ride ON them).

Then there's AirBags, they are inflated per load weight, therefore most comfortable on long trips BUT there is no free space, they connect leaf to frame and should have 5 psi when not towing, you'll feel them day-to-day driving. They have air lines and require maintenance, could possible leak.

I also went with Timbrens because their spacers are stock order, Sumo spacers are special order. And I have more tongue wt than what you're looking at so I wanted something stiffer back there when I'm ON them to prevent nose bobbing. Buy what's right for you :)

Lots of options in So Cal. Google it and you will have many choices. I would stay focused on a double axel

Much more stability and better handling.
Also give you the ability to buy something a little longer and better equipped.

Did you need to do anything to your truck as far as a duel sway or suspension support?

I did not. It only weighs 2700lbs empty. I figure I'm still under 3500lbs with all of our stuff inside. I had a 4 door Tacoma that I pulled it with before I got the Tundra and the Taco pulled it fine. I do utilize the electric breaks though.

Longer list than the wife needs to know about....
As others have said, get a few makes / models that you are looking for, then look on craigslist. You can almost always find trailers that are 2-3 years old and only used a few times. Most people don't camp as much as they think they will when they buy one. Save yourself the depreciation on buying a new one, trailers are not like our Tundras and retain value lol.

I'd pull it some first and see what you think. The anti Sawyer bar helps if your getting a lot of cross wind.
