Now that we are getting closer to start actually ordering our Tundras.

I know there was a spec sheet floating around here, does anyone know what the best configuration is going to he for maximum Payload in a crewmax?

Id like atleast a sr5 and I read somewhere here that the hybrid option will only decrease payload due to the added weight of the battery. I was very interested in the added power but now that im starting to camp with the family I need a truck that can pull a 25ft travel trailer.

    Any recommendations on a config?

Im assuming sr5 crewmax with 4x2

Yeah, it's generally going to be the lowest trim you can live with. Go for the short bed rather than the standard bed ("long bed" in Toyota speak). Go for 2wd if you don't need 4x4. Skip the big fuel tank (unless you're towing for long distances; then you may actually want it). Don't opt for either of the TRD packages.

SR might theoretically have higher payload but I'm not sure how the detuned engine will affect that. I believe it drops the towing capacity.

If you can wait to see if the neutered HP in the SR can be fixed with just an ECU flash, that's probably your best config.

Heck I wouldn't be surprised if a flash gives you LC HP numbers since it's the same powertrain.

Assuming it isn't all locked down and unable to be tampered with.
