Haha. I’m in the same boat I can’t stand that grey volume button with my blue trim. I know some SR tundras have the black volume button, but you have to buy the hole trim to get it. So I’m hoping one day I will find one lol

It’s one of the things I hate the most on this truck. With the short dash and windshield angle, the sun is miserable off the chrome pieces around cup holders. Also makes it impossible to view the screen.

Never noticed the light youre referring to, but I didnt notice the light around my ignition for close to 2 years so...

Save yourself the hassle and paint everything, especially the center dash trim stacks. I tried to use vinyl and it looked great but would always bubble on the sides. Always feared it would be a problem later so I painted it. WAY, WAY easier!! Totally regret even trying the vinyl.

I did tuffskinz as well and they cover up 100% of the chrome.

What color did you use? Went to Home Depot and got "matte black", but when it dried it turned out really shiny?!? Thanks

Rustoleum for plastic. Satin Canyon Black for the HU surround, Flat Black primer everywhere else. In retrospect, I’d do it all in flat because dust shows on anything with luster.

When dry, I then wipe it down with a leather conditioner I had laying around which mildy interacts rubbing a thin layer off and gives it a very smooth uniform factory finish, I discovered that by accident.

The trim on the android head unit is painted flat black like the vent rings and steering wheel:

Don't buy the Tuffskinz. They are subpar at best.:(

They don't cover the sides in color, thick, stick way out, chrome is still visible from some angles. Outside one went on outside and inside in inside, as described on package for fit.

I've put a claim in for a refund as I'm not satisfied and feel the listing is deceptive as they do NOT cover the chrome and aren't colored all around.

Not to mention one of them the paint is swirled under the finish, as you can see in the pic

    I already removed them all.

    A quick update:

Tuffskinz refunded the full price of my A/C vents after email communication and a pic of the discoloration and color flaws.

Customer service and communication was great. Product, not so much

Thanks for that man. I’ve got. 1794 and this chrome on a sunny day is obnoxious. Need vent rings, shifter and cup holders covered up.

I got the tufskinz tailgate, bedside, and vent rings. All were in good shape. The coverage on vent rings could be better, but it's so minute you'd have to actively look for the exposed chrome. Overall I am happy with the product. 15704925462696667401767854392844.jpg 20191006_153334.jpg 20191006_155022.jpg 20191006_160631.jpg 20191006_160643.jpg

I just got these AJT ones and man they cover up the entire chrome circle for the AC vents. I was iffy with the Tufskinz ones showing some chrome still. I have the Tufskinz center console and door product but not the vent rings. The AJT design ones are on point and cover all the chrome. I wish they would make a cover for the center console chrome piece as I think he has a piece for a Tacoma cup holder.

What kind of prep did you have to do to the plastic before painting to make everything stick?

I did combo sanding, think it was 600grit dry, then 1000grit wet, the dull black Rustoleum is primer anyway.

Isn't there some company that makes snap on vent ring covers? Could've sworn I saw something like that on here a couple months back.
