You probably didn’t do the proper bedding procedure if it vibrates a lot.

My install went well. Running it a few miles to wear off any coatings and get a small layer deposit on the rotors. Will bed them this weekend.

Question, do yall bed brakes on a new car?

Mine didn't vibrate myself until my dad drove my truck. Think he decided to be heavy on the brakes and then went through too high of puddle and likely warped a rotor...

So 10k miles later, I get to change something again.

Greens say you need slotted rotors to run. Anyone have info on this?

My rotors were slotted and drilled. But I wasn't aware of that requirement

About to do the front rotors and pads tomorrow. Any advice on jack points/torque specs or other useful info from those who have completed this?

Just jack up the truck at the front crossmember and then jack stands on both sides of the frame.

There should be a thread somewhere on torque specs for caliper bolts…

Toyota also states the caliper bolts are not reusuable.

    For 2016 and newer Tundra:

    Front - 180 N-m (133 lb-ft)
    Rear - 167 N-m (123 lb-ft)

I didn't even torque to spec. Really should get a torque wrench :anonymous:

Impact and some blue lock tite. Had a caliper bolt fall out one day on a different vehicle and when I went to brake it rotated up into the wheel. That was fun at 70mph. All caliper bolts get lock tite now.

I actually used orange lock tite when I installed those caliper bolts.

Did the front rotors and pads yesterday, bedded them in but I'm getting a chirping/clicking noise at 30+ mph on the right side. See video below. I'm going to take everything apart tonight to see if anything was loose etc. Any idea what this could be?

    Bosch pads typically fit well.

Double check that nothing is touching backing plate or caught between the backing plate and rotor.

I had a small rock somehow get lodged between the pad and rotor on a different truck that made a similar sound. It got stuck in a groove in the pad material.

Took everything apart and nothing seemed out of place. I did re-seat the rotor, so it's possible that could have been the issue. I took it for a drive after and no noise so I think I'm good to go.

Do you guys usually bleed to install rotors and pads? Had the system flushed about 4 months ago. Don’t want to change fluid yet. Planning to just open the cap and push the pistons back in. Putting on yellow stuff pads and slotted cryos. Also confused on the different torque settings. Either 70ish or 133 for front caliper bolts. Have seen as low as 45 up to 120 something for rear. From 22-65 for rear slide pin bolts. Anyone nail down the answers? Have a 19’.

No need to touch the fluid for rotors and pads. Open the cap and gently depress the pistons. Been doing it this way for over 25 years and never had an issue.

I did buy all new caliper bolts. Still can’t find info on the slider pins for the rear caliper. Only data I have is on the 2015. I’ve seen 20 ft lb or 65.
On another note, the rear caliper bolts used to be 46 ft lbs. Now 123… that’s quite a jump.

Toyota used larger front and rear caliper mounting bolts for the 2016 and newer models.

From my information, 65 lb-ft is the rear caliper slider pin torque, and that number remained the same 2007-2021.
