Bedias is where I used to go to shoot. I was going to SHSU and friends with Amy Gregory, who's family had land out there and let us fuck around on it.

This also reminds me I need a sawed off double barrel now that Texas legalized em.

    None at this point.
They've been legal in Texas for as long as I've been alive.
They just cant be shorter than 18 inches if I remember correctly.
Thats from the base of the barrel to the end.

The above Glock I posted is my bedside gun if something goes bump in the night inside the house, if outside then I'm grabbing my 10.3" Mk18 "pistol".

ETA: it will wear a stock soon

Well, it does sit in the corner of the bedroom. It's called a CQBR (close quarter battle receiver) for a reason.

I have a Knight's QDSS-NT4 suppressor sitting in jail waiting on my Form 4 approval. That upper above will get the Form 1 SBR treatment and wear the NT4, the Surefire RC2 pictured will reside on my URGI.

Be careful with that, it's almost like legalized weed in some states but the Fed doesn't recognize it. Short barreled shotguns (SBS) still require NFA registration. Starting 1/1/26 the "tax" will go from $200 to $0 but still require registration but that will be challenged federally. I just paid the $200 for another suppressor this week because after Jan 1 I'm sure wait times will get crazy again.

He's referring to the new Senate Bill 1596 regarding SBRs and SBSs (shorter than 16 and 18 respectively).

False. When I get off work I can dig up my old Texas penal code from the LEO academy. Or you can just look it up for yourself thru the power of the internet.

As long as the barrel is 18 inches it's legal.
Yet you can have Shotgun pistols.
Kinda stupid if you ask me.
When a shotgun gets to short they damn near become useless.
The barrel is needed to accelerate the pellets.

What you're failing to understand is I'm talking about a sawed off shotgun, like I posted above becoming legal in this state. Not an 18" or even 16" barrel... shorter.
You are correct that the 18" and 16" barrels and overall length of (IIRC) 24" have been legal since before I was born. But that's not what I'm talking about becoming legal in September in Texas, assuming the governor signs the bill during the special session.

Its certainly not a range weapon and given the legality of pistols that fire 410 shells for example, it's a long time overdue. I just want one for the novelty.

Right now it's just my carry LCR, but I really want to get my Mossberg 590 back on duty. My only problem is that there isn't a good place to mount it to keep it ready.

I found one of those online videos w/ @AZBoatHauler trying out some new ammo for his 12 gauge...

He no longer has to stagger his shells as Pitbull has created some defensive ammo for him; (1) slug and (6) 00Buck pellets PER SHELL
    upload_2025-8-16_5-46-3.jpg

The following video is a rare sighting of @AZBoatHauler testing out his newly acquired 'defensive shells'... :D

Glock G17 with TLR-8, some good ammo, and individual first aid kit with tournaquet.

Here are some personal considerations I adhere to:
Its critical that you do a walkthru of different scenarios in your house to identify strong points and choke points as well as all potential threat angles. Be cognizant of wall materials, adjacent rooms & occupants and other civilian populations. Ammo selection can play a key role and have a light or wep mounted light (a laser is great as well). Practice shot placement in static, dynamic (moving), low light/ no light situations, basic clearance techniques, and immediate and remedial actions of firearms malfunctions. I believe best case scenario during an intrusion is using firearm as a deterrent with no shots fired. Recommend rehearse post engagement and post shooting actions and procedures and be knowledgable on local laws. You may be in the right by eliminating the threat but there is a possibility of civil actions against you. With that, my personal mindset and skillset is ready to do whatever it takes to protect my family.

Funny enough - I have some ammo like that - but I look at it more as a gimmick. Brands I load for self defense have been around a long time.
