Bed rack with tonneau cover?

How did you attach the tracks on the bed? I like this setup, but I am not sure how to go about setting it up.

 

this was answered in your other post. you can use through bolts or stainless screws through the cap and sheet metal every few inches. its just flat roof rack track attached to the bed rails, cross bars and feet. sometimes listed as track for top of bed caps. nearly all manufactures make them, just pick the one you like.

the nice thing about doing it this way; is the cross bars come off in seconds, tonneau can be open / closed, you are not limiting bed capacity with one of the giant 'lids', and you are not spending $1500.

There are quite a few options. Depends if you want a rack or rails or both. If you want a rack you can do a retrax pro and add on a Yakima rack plus others I’m sure. If you want rails you can do that same cover or truck covers USA and add on the Yakima rails. You can also head over to emachineshop.com and design your own brackets to pretty much work with any cover.

What's rhe recommendation on size with a bakflip MX4 folding cover? I realize I can't fold it.

 

We offer 10", 14", 18", and 22" racks. All of them will work with your truck and cover.

The tonneau brackets add 2.5" to the overall height of the rack.

 

I have the 10" and a bakflip mx4. they work great together

Wouldn’t spacer/adapter bring my bed cover rail in making it more narrow? Will the bed cover close?

 

The tonneau brackets are 3/16" thick. They might make the cover a little tight, but it works.

@KB Voodoo I have a bakflip f1… I know earlier in your bed rack posts you had expressed some displeasure with the bakflip tonneau vs some of the others. Are all your current products compatible with a Bakflip f1? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.

Additionally, I want to be able to switch from bedrack/RTT to open bed (for hauling dirt bike) as easily as possible, how invasive is the removal process for your systems, and which might you suggest with my current setup? Thanks!

 

The F1 is one of their covers that we don't see a lot. If you shoot us a couple pics from the inside of the bed, we should be able to determine its compatibility.

As far as removing the rack for full bed access goes, it couldn't be easier. All you have to do is pop out the bolts that connect the tonneau brackets, and the rack can be lifted away. The bottom portion of the tonneau brackets would just remain installed on the truck.

 

Old thread but I was looking for something similar to the OP at one time.

The only bed stake pocket option I found, that looked sturdy enough for a rooftop tent, was Putco. Never used one but there are some reviews online.
