Hi all, Im working on 2014 Crew Max I started my led tail light wiring this weekend and it is wearing me out due to me not being able to find cargo light wire in driver or driver side rear sil/scuff plate. I've seen post about pink, puke, purple or black thin wire but this is whooping my a$$. Any assistance would be welcomed and appreciated.

Thanks biebs96, I'll go out and give it another shot. Can you tell me where you exited the cab to tie in to light wires?

Under the carpet about six inches in from that wire loom is a rubber grommet that exits right above the frame rail and gives plenty of places to tie the wires up and out of the way

What are you tapping the wires with to test them? If you aren't using the tap end of a PosiTap (the end that taps the wire and the middle of the PosiTap), you may not be making good contact with the wire. Have you tested any that register the presence of current? On my 2015, the wire I used is a thinner, dark gray wire in the bundle on the far right...

Make sure the dash switch is turned to on or door!!

I can confirm the wire I sent you works as it’s been working on mine for months

I would go to the multiple wire harnesses’ that are located behind the kick panel next to parking brake, just upstream from where you’re working now. Unhook each harness, one at a time, turning the cargo light on and off, until cargo light fails to turn on, that will narrow down which harness the cargo wire is in. Next, with the harness still unplugged, use your meter to figure out which wire is on/off (hot/cold) by putting the red tip inside each pin hole and grounding the other to bare metal (very important you have a good ground) while turning the cargo light switch on/off.

Pretty sure you had it here.

I’d test it with the actually bed light.

And make sure you have a solid ground as previously stated.

Like a ROOKIE the switch was in off. Please accept my apologies also thanks for all of your help during my bone head adventure. I have confirmed that the wire that you and Ron specified is in fact working just like it supposed to. Again thanks

I got the Xprite LEDs. I'll post pics when I wrap it up. I also just installed the pop&lock tailgate and after I realized my goof on the cargo switch I noticed that I didn't run pop& lock wire down passenger frame rail as careful as I should( avoiding heat shields) So I re configured and secured.

Thanks! It only lights up with the lock/unlock so its a brief but smile-worthy thing to see when walking out of work every night.

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
Did you add an additional relay and/ or in-line fuse for the bed lights?

Same question but on a 2019 Platinum...which wire in that loom do I need to tap? (*Thanks for the rookie lesson - will DEF keep that in mind!)

I used the OEM bed lights on my 2014.
Here are the instructions, including wiring instructions.
It may differ on later year models.

    http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/00016-34089_2018_tundra.pdf

    I used Posi-taps instead of T-taps.
But with the small OEM wiring, you need to make sure the Posi-taps get seated and make the connection before putting everything back together.
