Castle Rock is THE WORST!!! My buddy has a mid-00s Titan and he says the same thing. His is an extended cab, so would likely be a similar wheelbase as we have in our DC Tundras. I had heard maybe Coachbuilder shackles and upgraded Bilsteins would help, but, your experience would say otherwise... I am heading to IA the end of December and I know they have some stretches or I76 and I80 that are now concrete. Really wanting to take my Tundra, not our 4Runner. I have 110k less miles on my truck...

Glad I wasn’t imagining the bed bounce with certain types of pavement. Mine did seem to get a little better overall with the addition of the poly bushings on the Toytec shackles, but it’s still aggravating in places. I about lost my mind on highway 24 from Limon to the Springs a few months back it was so bad. I wonder if certain types of pavement don’t gyrate the leaves and make the main springs bounce off of the overloads more aggressively.

Also, welcome from Burlington and check out the Colorado BS thread!

Superbrad Im a Tundra Owner too and know exactly what you're talking about, We have the same great concrete highways over there in Utah and feel your pain :) lol

Many have asked about bed bounce and why their tundras feel so restricted or loose in the rear. This is our Specialty.... Over the years we've been able to dial in our Shackle Design as well as the Bushing Profile and compound in the rear leaf spring eyelets. Allowing the rear suspension to cycle extremely smooth yet very controlled. Our Coachbuilder shackles will not only provide Amazing ride quality but added strength, Eliminate side to side flex, You'll get the amount of lift you're wanting ( +1"s .625" ) ( +2"s 1.25" ) ( +3"s 1.75" ) all while transferring the power down to the ground.

As one that isn't currently interested in any lift, do you guys have any that don't lift the rear and leave it at the stock height? Thanks!

Unfortunately no.. Our Smallest or shortest shackle is our +1"s. they are just short enough we're able to fit a solid cross brace in without sacrificing functionality.

If you have a floor jack you can see what they would look like installed.

Park on a flat level surface and pull a measurement from the center of the wheel openings down to the ground.. if your truck is stock it should measure 39"-39.25"
using your floor jack raise the rear by jacking up on the trucks tow hitch .625". this will provide a mirror image for you.

Interesting idea, seems a bit far fetched but maybe worth a shot. I’d love to hear from any Colorado members who have switched to higher end rear shocks.

Two things that I have done that helped a little bit are the trd rear sway bar and line-x the bed. Both helped slightly but didn’t make it go away completely.

There’s also quite a few bed stiffeners out there that I feel would help, just haven’t tried one yet.

Like some have said weight, once I had my topper install most of it went away. There are parts of I-25 that I still get a little bit, nowhere what it used to be.

From everything I have read it is most likely the factory bushings. Coach builder shackles should eliminate the binding that occurs with factory ones. I plan to upgrade to his shackles even if I do a full on lift kit. Nothing ordered yet... saving up to do the whole thing all at once. (Shackles, shocks, rims, tires, etc.)

Idk, even adding my 5th wheel hitch and suspension mods has not changed mine. It is weird and temps-load make a slight difference, but it is still there. Has to be the tri tech frame. That is my biggest complaint tho, and I will deal with the areas it happens for rock solid dependability.

I blame the road. Got CB +3’s with Fox DSC in the rear. Excellent on pretty much everything except a few sections of freeway here in SoCal. I405N past the 101 is super shiti! California has some of the worst roads..

Have you guys notice any difference between wheel/tire setup? Couple places in San Diego that have the bounce and I definitely noticed a difference of when I was running stock 18s steelies with Michelins and now running 20s with Dunlops.. Stock 18s barely noticed anything... Or maybe it's all in my mind

Agreed (w/Sterling above). This is not unique to any region. For me it was almost exclusively the seamed stretches of interstate where I noticed it. Proof of that is when you're bouncing along whatever interstate and then you come to an overpass and it completely goes away for a brief stretch because the road surface changes. Sadly, you do get used to it. My kids even enjoyed it for brief stretches. I also noticed it was most pronounced between 70-75 mph. Different speeds made it stop, sometimes.

I will say this, OP, you list "long-bed". Is that single or double cab? Curious because before my '18 CM I had a '14 DC long bed (yes, 8ft) and it was ten times more noticeable on that truck than on the 5.5 ft bed CM. Dealers and even forums didn't have a lot of answers, mostly because there are sooooo few Toyota trucks with a wheelbase that long so not a lot of folks are making noise about it. Feelin' your pain.

15 north through Miramar was as bad as any I've experienced. I was stock TRD wheels and tires at that time.

I live in CASTLE ROCK and drive that stretch daily!! I have honsestly considered unloading my truck it’s so bad.
I’ve tried numerous things and nothing eliminates it. I have upgraded 6112/5160 suspension and it may have reduced it a little. Honestly, speed is the biggest difference maker for me. Once I get above 80 it seems to get out of its frequency range.
I believe it’s the frame design. Let me know if you come up with anything and I’ll do the same.

Definitely improved with the poly bushings. If you are considering going in on the GB for CB it’s worth it.

I may give Toytec a call. They are local and may have an upgrade that will reduce the bounce.

Welcome from Aurora. It's not just the shackles that fixes bounce. It's replacing the OEM bullshit bushings and replacing with poly bushings. Check out ToyTec shackles and poly bushings. Nuke proof and adjustable from 1" to 1.5".
