I don't know if the purpose of a WDH is to keep the rear suspension from supporting weight and reducing squat as much as you'd like. Doing so may bend the trailer frame.
As I see it the idea behind the WDH is keep from reducing weight on the front axle. My Fastway E2 manual goes into great detail about measuring the front of the truck with the truck loaded as it would be when hauling the trailer but without the trailer. Then hitching up and measuring again to see how far the front raises. Once the WDH is properly adjusted the final front measurement should be between the first two measurements: Preferred is closer to the first than the second but never should the third be less than the first.

No issues with brake controller. Had an “Oh Shit” moment on the way home where we hit traffic and someone cut me off, but everything stopped good. I wish I could have got the BSM to work well in sensing the trailer because I was pretty excited about that. Might have to take the truck in next oil change and get a recal on the sensors.

Physics causes the transfer in weight to the trailer frame, can’t do much about it. You’re definitely right that the purpose of a WDH is to restore the weight to the front axle. Ideally, the front ride height should be the same hitched with WDH loaded up and unhitched. This way you have the same load over the front axle for more grip when steering.

For me it took a while to set mine up because my WD hitch has to be disassembled to change the height of the ball. I took my initial unloaded measurements then hooked up the trailer with no WD bars hooked up and took another measurement, hook up the bars then measure. I had to remove the hitch 3 times and change the ball height before I got it dialed in which took about an hour. Its a one time investment that is worth the effort and videos like the one you attached are great for learning what exactly you are doing and why.

Yep same for me. Had to disassemble a few times to get the correct measurement and spring bars parallel with the trailer. Mine was previously setup to tow with my suburban.

It does move the weight to the front axle but in doing that, and if the WDH is set up properly, it also moves some of the weight back onto the trailer axles. I think the number is about 10%-12%. 5k lbs trailer would have 500 lbs moved back to the trailer.

And I used the wrong number. I should have said a 600lbs of tongue weight would move 10-12% back to the trailer.

Can anyone take a picture of their trucks payload sticker on a platinum truck with the advanced package + options and automatic step rails? Would love to see that payload capacity.

    That's pretty awful for a basic SR5 2wd. I'd of figured 1500 or better.

I for one am aok with the payload of the tundra, would not want the fantastic ride harshened by a heavier suspension, that’s what 3/4 and 1 tons are for.

There is always the Titan XD. I just drove one last night. The tow is 10k and payload is 1800. The gas mileage is another story.

I just hooked my boat (~6,800 lbs boat & trailer, without fluids or gear, so about 7,500 lbs loaded up) to the 2022 yesterday for about 15 miles (mostly highway). The thing tows better than my 2019 Pro, and not just from a suspension standpoint. The truck doesn't search for gears thanks to the improved torque and 10 speed transmission. We are planning to get out tomorrow on the boat and will be towing it about two hours round-trip. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

Edit: my Limited does not have auto-level, air suspension, TRD, etc. Just the standard suspension.

After towing more than 100 miles round trip, I can say without a doubt that the 2022 is leaps and bounds better than my 2019 was at towing. The route was about 2/3 interstate and 1/3 winding roads with speed limits between 35mph and 55mph. On the trip back, I set the cruise control at 75 once we got to the highway and enjoyed the ride. No searching for gears while revving to 4k rpm, and its definitely smoother. I ran the whole way in tow/haul mode, and did not mess with tow+ or regular drive modes.

Just back from a tow down and back through mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina with a 720 hitch weight (weighed), 7200 loaded mini toyhauler in a plat with AVS.
Use an Anderson anti sway/WDH (used to use an equalizer type WDH with bars but tried something new).
I don’t load up the cab or bed much when towing use the storage over trailer axles to not overload the truck bed.
This setup, with AVS and once hitch adjusted , towed better than any truck I have used for similar configuration. The star of the setup is the transmission. It never searches for a gear and zero abrupt surges on an up shift or downshift. You can use cruise at 62 and not sure It ever goes over 65 down a steep grade or below 60 on a steep incline. Very impressed with little sway and zero bucking of the trailer when starting or stopping. Tractor trailers go by in passing lane and little to no buffeting.
** One thing to note when adding a WDH/sway is due to the auto level function, it can initially cause what looks to be a nice level tight setup to actually be high in the front of the trailer since when hitch lowered back down the truck adjusts up. Once that was understood hooking up was good.
As mentioned above this tows my trailer much better but more importantly much easier than prior gen as no white knuckling as I go down a mountain or a semi passes, more relaxing trip.

What's the weight and size of your trailer? Also does the 22 come with an external trans cooler or just the puck type like the 19's?

The star is the TTV6. That massive low end torque is what allows the transmission to be so smooth and calm. Even with my old 6 speed transmission in my F150 Ecoboost it never hunts. It can tow in 6th on the flats and very small grades, then drops to 5th on medium grades and then 4th on the biggest steepest grades, but the shifting is extremely predictable. And thats on 35’s.

Meanwhile, my Lexus GX with th 1UR is constantly shifting and gear hunting without a trailer.

for my purposes, which is towing a travel trailer in Utah Wyoming and the other surrounding states, I will never own a half ton V8. The only V-8 I might consider are the GM 6.6 L and the Ford 7.3 L in the HD trucks

That is a great question with a less than good answer!! I honestly did not even check that or fool with it!! Not intentionally, just used to towing and didn’t even think about it. I input length once and select tow 2 and on my way. I’ll see how it works next time I hook up.

Yeah I'm really curious as I couldn't get it to pickup my 34' TT. I tried doing auto length and inputting the length as well and neither one would work for me. Let me know how it goes for you next time!

I think auto makers need to bring their trucks here for the "Real Towing Test". I-80 Parley's Canyon. Then we can see what trucks actually suck at towing. haha

Whats super funny is the difference between how we talk about towing here vs what you see in the campground. Walk the sites and i see a bunch of 30ft toy haulers being pulled by tahoes
