Day 3: Departed Campsite after a night of thunderstorms. RTT held up well but had the windows open for air flow so a little rain blew in from the windows.

Oklahoma is a cool state and enjoyed the scenery. Here’s a shot driving through Oklahoma City and then into Texas.

I absolutely love Texas. Stopped at the famous “The Great Texan Steakhouse”in Amarillo for a good meal. No, I did not attempt the 72oz challenge. Just a good ole Texas steak.

Night 3 Stop: crossing the time zones allowed me to make good timing. Made it to New Mexico and setup camp.

Day 4: Final leg to Sedona. Packed up camp and and before leaving New Mexico decided to have breakfast at the “Kix on Route 66” diner.

If they have Hatch Green Chili anything you should give it a shot. My brother got hooked on Hatch's when he was in NM.

Ahh, thanks for the tip. Interesting place. A smaller type diner that’s got it together and very clean and pleasant to be in. It’s weird to see it placed in a remote area with lots of remnants of old closed businesses. typical Route 66 feel.

I went out there over the weekend to check out the location (I live in Flagstaff)
Looks like you grabbed a spot close to where I was thinking about setting up camp.

Not sure what day I might make it out, maybe tonight? :notsure:

    See you soon!

Lol, you should have planted a “this is my spot” flag . But plenty of room all around to plant your flag.

Good sun to recharge the batteries.

:) Actually, she volunteered. She’s a trooper and wants to make sure she can do everything herself. She will be borrowing my truck to go camping with her friends as well. Still have to sit on the RN case in order to get it latched. She just wanted to make sure she could manage it.

What a day. Joined a group for an afternoon trail run. A new trail for everyone as we set out for the Horseshoe Canyon trail. A nice rocky narrow trail. We attempted a shortcut due to daylight which ended up being a no go. Ultimately had to turn around and double back to the beginning. Ended up being a 33 mile run with much of the return at night. Was very fun.

Day 2 at T2S: due to a scheduling conflict we could not join todays group trail run. By late afternoon was able to make a solo truck run down Schnebly Hill Road. Not difficult at all but extremely bumpy. If you have never done this road, the beautiful scenery is worth the bumpy ride. Rode down the mountain from base camp and picked up a few supplies in Sedona. Then let the daughter take over for the run back up Schnebly. She had a blast guiding the Tundra over the rocks. Was not difficult for her but some Pink Jeep drivers were a bit obnoxious.

Day 4 at T2S: Today was morning volunteer clean up of the several campsites along Schnebly Hill Road followed up by a vendor supplied lunch for everyone.

The afternoon had several groups heading out to different trails. I joined the group going to Red Rock Power lime trail.

My daughter actually drove most of this trail. A natural. When approaching a climb that had an easy path and a more challenging path, I asked her, “easy path or hard”. She replied, “Hard”, put it in 4Lo and headed straight for the steeper climb.

Day 5 at T2S: Ran the Oak Creek Homestead trail today. Kinda low key compared to the other trails but still wanted to see it. Followed it up with a long loop back to camp through the mountains.

Looks like you’re having an awesome time! Our home was about 46 minutes south of the camp , in Camp Verde. We lived there for 40 years and those are some familiar views! That’s some of the best country there is for off road camping and rock crawling. So much public land with good access!

We saw that same herd on Thursday night right outside camp.
When we did schnebly hill on Thursday, most of the pink Jeep’s were pretty cool, only one or two, some of them I didn’t give the option so they had to yield, or I let them pass……but I never slowed down.
Glad you guys are having a good time, we took off today after the kids won some raffle prizes
