Do you lose key fob function/ programming if you replace the vehicle battery?

Well, just bought a 08 Tundra, but key fob wasn't working, thought it was battery in fob, but replaced...still no luck. Tested fob at auto parts store and is transmitting...any thoughts?

It may have some how lost its connection to the truck. I would research reseting it.

I know the vehicle battery has been replaced so I thought if it were an extended amount of time it was dead it could have lost program
