The GM diode replaces the fuse, if it blows it needs to be replaced and possibly risks damaging other components.

The HKB keeps the fuse part and resets if faulted.

MK2 Micro blade 5A (Electronic fuse version) | HKB Electronics

I didn't see anything on them being out of stock.
But it could take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.
Took 6 weeks to get mine before Covid.

I used one for my X2 Power AGM, which failed on me twice within 6 months of purchase.
Batteries Plus wouldn't replace it so I told them to get fucked.
Used that AGM as a $25 core charge on an Interstate..

I ordered the Micro blade for my 2017 a couple weeks ago. Still haven't received it, but it sounds like it can take some time. In the meantime, I'm running the GM Diode.

So a off the wall ?? I have a fwc on truck all the time which has 2 agm batteries . Do u think I'll overload my alternator if I run a 3dr agm as my truck battery? Solar panels keep the two charged up well. Except on rainy days.

I went with the MK2 Micro blade 5A electric fuse version. The cost was $75.00 AUD + $26.00 AUD shipping. Conversion rate was 1 USD = 1.3164 AUD. Or simply $56.98 for the diode and $19.75 shipping broken out.

I am also lazy. I should have done it two weeks ago. An I also have to park outside. Sucks sometimes.

One day I will probably have one of these fancy fuses.

Did they say why they wouldn't replace it? Said it had a warranty when I bought my X2. I heard of them not honoring the warranty. So before I bought mine, I asked them why it wouldn't be honored. Couldn't give me a example. I'm waiting to see if they lied.

Please forgive me, I have a real hardon for Batteries Plus and their X2 Power AGM.

The first time it failed, 3 months from new, they gave me a loaner battery, charged it for 3 days, and gave it back to me.
    They said it was fine
The store manager told me if it failed again, they would replace it, no recharging, no bullshit, no questions asked.

It failed again around 6 months.
They told me they would have to keep the battery for a few days and didn't have any loaner batteries.
That means I have no truck to drive for 3 days.
I reminded him of his promise to replace.
    He didn't care.
I told him to go fu(k himself, jumped the truck using a jump starter, drove straight to Interstate, and used that $300 battery for a $25 core charge on an Interstate MTP-27F.

The ONLY reason I bought the X2 Power AGM in the first place is I bought into the hype.
I have LED puddle lights, Amp power steps, LED strips for the Amp steps, 5-channel amp with sub, remote start/alarm, Drone mobile app that runs 24/7, etc..
I thought the AGM would help with all that.
But the Interstate MTP-27F seems to run it all just fine.

It doesn't make sense that you have to top off an AGM with a charger every month to maintain.
The haters will jump in and say 'Oh you don't have to do that'.
Then you can read several posts that go into detail about how AGM battery owners charge/maintain/refresh their AGM batteries from time to time.

I'm pretty sure I just got a lemon, but they wouldn't replace it.
I bought the MK2 Micro blade 5A (Electronic fuse version) | HKB Electronics and it was charging X2 Power at 14.5 volts.
I even bought a CTEK MULTI US 7002 charger that I hooked up once a month.
But twice in 6 months, I went to start my truck and it wouldn't start.

    I don't need that headache..

Oh man. Thanks for the information. I have ditch lights, bar light, and winch. Waiting to see how the battery does with them. I don't use the winch all the time. I researched for months and the X2 and Odyssey batteries were recommended for accessories. My factory battery only lasted 2.5 years.

Did the HKB replace a 7.5 fuse in the engine fuse box?

    Thanks!

The HKB fuse replaces the OEM ALT-S fuse in the engine fuse box.

    As I stated, I'm pretty sure I got a lemon X2 power.
It's a shame they wouldn't honor the promise they made.
There are several here that have them and had no problems with them.
Many also have Northstar AGMs that allegedly make the Batteries Plus X2 power battery.

    Tastefully enhanced...
If AGMs are run without the voltage booster for more than one charge cycle, you will have effectively "hurt" the battery's charging potential. I too lost a X2 due to not fully understanding what was actually needed but it was warrantied thru BatteriesPlus...patience was key here as it took a month of waiting on their testing procedures...argh! Luckily I had a spare battery from a boat to use in the meantime.

Since replacement of the X2 for a new X2 it's been perfect with zero issues. What most battery stores don't realize is the charging voltage needed to keep the AGMs in fair working order...unless they're specifically told, they have no idea why their AGMs are failing...use it to your advantage and call it a lemon battery and get a new one AFTER you have the diode or HKB fuse...then help educate us folks why they can fail or become a nuisance. Overall, AGMs are superior to traditional batteries if, and only if, the vehicle has the provisions needed to make the battery work as it should. Dot com...

I have an X2 AGM in my 2018 double cab and like others want to make sure the battery has a long life in my truck. I keep seeing posts in other threads and forums where someone indicates the alternator output of the newer Toyotas is regulated by the ECU so a fuse/diode would be moot. Does anyone know if this is the case and what years are affected?

    1. Terminal Positions will vary depending on the battery size selected. An R or F in the battery number denotes the terminals are reversed , such that the positive terminal is the negative terminal and vice versa compared to non-lettered sizes (i.e. group 24 vs. group 24F). Different battery sizes will also have different terminal positions (we will not get into terminal sizes). For example, the terminals of group 24F, 27F, and 24F are all near the edge of the battery whereas group 31 batteries are located towards the middle of the battery. Terminal position and polarity will dictate whether or not longer custom terminal extensions are required to connect to your vehicle.

I ordered a HKB booster last night. Their website said out of stock, but it was available on their eBay store for the same price (around $56 after exchange rate).

@2point5seconds I use a ScanGauge II to monitor battery voltage and other data in real time.

I'm sure people who have installed it know but the diode can only go in one way. If it's the "wrong" way the battery dash light will come on and the ammeter will not show a change in charging voltage.

So yeah after I realized this I checked and all looks good:

Well, I got my X2 AGM battery early January. Got a charger for it since I wasn't sure about using the GM or HKB route.

Week after starting this post, daughter caught my house on fire and received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her body. After a little over a month of being in the burn unit, she was release. So, I've been living out of a hotel since January 18th.

So, I figured since there is no easy way to use the charger (don't have my garage with an extension cord) I'd buy the HKB and just install it. I'll keep everyone updated on how it does.

Did the price go up? I saw $75 (AUD) and ended up spending $101 (AUD)(I hope) with shipping. Maybe should have asked for a Military Discount LOL. One thing I didn't think about checking is to see if my fuse box has a ALT-S fuse. Guess I can always try to sell it on here if it doesn't.....

Note: I guess Ebay has one left : https://www.ebay.com/itm/222869252653

Sorry to hear that. Hope she's doing better now.

That's correct at $101 AUD (what I paid also) here's the breakdown: The cost was $75.00 AUD + $26.00 AUD shipping ($101 AUD total). Conversion rate was 1 USD = 1.3164 AUD. Or simply $56.98 USD for the diode and $19.75 USD shipping broken out.
