Battery cable corroded

    Does any one know or have a diagram of where all the ground points for the positive and negative battery cables are for my toyota sequoia 2003 4.7.? I need to replace the entire negative cable and I'm having a hard time finding where the cables lead. That is because I don't want to remove the cover/wrap that contains all the cables and wiring. I would like to just cut the ends of the negative cable. Secure them with black tape. So it will just be useless cable left inside the casing. Then I want to run the new cable and connect them properly outside of that casing.then zip tie it to secure its position. Not out of laziness but because I am scared to damage any of the small wires inside the casing. I'm also a young new mechanic and am willing to admit I am not the most knowledgeable or skilled at it. I might sound foolish, even. But I like to do things myself and always have worked my way through anything with my vehicle. But this is new to me and I'm mostly nervous to mess any thing up. If you have any tips on replacing a negative battery cable, I would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you. I appreciate the link and advice. I have looked through that quite a bit over the past few days. I can't find anywhere that it shows the ground points for the cables. It shows grounds for all the wiring but nothing about the cables. I even took it to an app to where I could search keywords and still couldn't find any where it talked about or any of the diagrams showing the grounds for the battery cables. I might be overlooking it. Thanks again for replying.

    I'm not sure how much the Sequoia differs from the Tundra on this one. But correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the ground is just the huge (2awg?) main cable off the battery, and the little (8awg?) jumper from the terminal to the fender?

    Sure there are a few other grounds, but I don't believe they're part of that one line. For example, there's one from the firewall to the back of the head, about 12"-18 to the right of the wiper motor as you're looking at it.

    But my bigger question is: Why are you replacing the ENTIRE cable? Usually the corrosion that happens (often) with our cables only manages to work its way into the cable an inch or two.

    I think you are right about there only being the two grounds. But as though I wasn't sure, I didn't want to proceed until I was sure. Honestly, I had asked a.i. and it had me second guessing. I know where the cable ends. But I was afraid it split off in a way that I couldn't see. Because it does go up under a metal casing right at the end, just before the end pops out and connects to where it is grounded.

    Also, I peeled back about 7 inches of the cable. It was corroded all the way up to that point. Which made me assume the whole cable may be junk. Would I be wrong to assume this?

    The color of the cable comes back to normal after a couple inches. But the corrosive white material keeps going. Am I wrong to think the whole cable is ruined? I assumed, like mold. If it has started all the way through the cable. It won't be long before the whole cable is corroded. I'm starting to think it works differently lol

    This pic looks backwards to me, battery on wrong side of vehicle. I guess text is reversed also, threw me for a loop.

    Anyway, yeah, I would 100% replace that individual cable. And it's supposed to have another (I think 8awg) cable from the terminal to this connection I'm circling here.

    It looks like someone fucked up pretty hard and let the terminals get corroded to shit, I guess they weren't using felts and dielectric grease around the terminals.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the positive cable looks similar internally. I was shocked at how much corrosion my terminals had, but it was limited to the end of the cable only.
