I used the Rustoleum High Temp primer and flat black paint. It worked surprisingly well for a rustoleum product, besides the cans leaking all over my hand. Not sure how important it is, but there is a curing process that involves running and cooling the vehicle at certain intervals.

I was going to make a seperate thread about this, but I think this will suffice.

Does anyone have any experience with the TRD replacement system with no mufflers? IE: fake mufflers.

Also, how loud is the 12" loudest (TRD replacement) system Keith has? Can those mufflers be swapped out for dual 6" or 8" mufflers, for a custom exhaust?

Or will that throw off the tone of the exhaust

If going louder than what a 12” provides you might as well not get mufflers and save the $$.

in a dual exhaust our mufflers don’t do any ‘muffling’ when they’re shorter than 12”.

even straight piped, the trd rep isn’t thst loud. It’s just a little more raspy.

A lot of the ‘how loud’ or ‘how raspy’ questions are best answered over the phone. I can more easily relay the ‘emotion’ of the sound if thst makes sense.

I’m hard to get on the phone lately so have patience as I always call everybody back. Just takes time sometimes.

thst said, anybody with any questions please give a call. 760-877-4234

Installed mine this morning(8” standard). Super easy install only took 20 minutes, love living in the desert:p I’ll be installing the resonator this weekend but only noticed some slight drone around 1500 rpm under load without it. I haven’t been this stoked about a mod in years, super happy with it!:headbang:

So is everyone throwing away the old stock muffler once the DD is installed?

Or is there a market to sell or giveaway?

I've kept mine since I installed the DD from the last group buy. I plan on keeping my truck for years so I might give it away. Taking up garage space.

Air lift, black out emblems, wheels, tonneau cover, tires, led lighting, hidden step rail, remote start.
There's days I wish it was louder, but never quiet. 8 inch bam rocks.

Time to get some industrial PB plaster and start spraying down the exhaust bolts; initial ship label came through today.

PB didn’t help me much. I ended up heating the nut with a simple propane torch while periodically tapping the impact to check for movement. One it’s started moving, those rusted bastards came right out. Breaker bar felt like they were going to spin the head off. Just a tip if the blaster doesn’t help.

50/50 acetone and Atf will work better than anything you can buy as a penetrant

How exactly would Keith do "fake" mufflers? My little pea brain is curious and can't really picture how a fake muffler works / looks like.

Interesting. To me I would say those cans still function like a muffler and technically aren't fake. But now I have a better idea of what he means. Thanks!

They’re literally the can of our actual mufflers. But no core no packing. Just the can on the pipe.
