I like that chop job on the tail pipe. I think I'll do this to mine once it warms up some. Do you think the chop made a significant difference in the sound, or was it more taking the resonator off? I know the resonator made a pretty noticeable difference with every system I've had.

The chop made very little difference to the sound/drone as long as you keep the resonator. I would say if anything it might be 10% more noise? I need to drive it more to test it on a long drive. I’ll update you but so far it’s good.

Without the resonator the drone under 2k rpms was getting bad. Put the resonator back on and the drone is gone!

I am in San Mateo, but, looks like your committed now... I originally ordered 6", then had second thoughts and changed to 8". No drone, just loud enough at cruise, jump on it , its loud. And these trucks like to rev high!

Yep, for sure, When people ask how loud is it, does it drone, it is so hard, you have to hear in person. Plus, I am getting older and already having loud exhausts on my other vehicles this was the perfect choice for a daily driver.

I’m weird I like a little drone. Reminds me of driving around in old muscle cars. I have yet to install the resonator on my 6”.

@UTTundra so I got to drive the truck on the highway today. It has some drone if you load the engine around 1500rpms. For me that’s 60mph. It’s not bad but it’s there. If your sensitive to drone then I would advice from doing it. I’m fine with it but I’m not too sensitive to drone. Only when really bad.

I would say that the exhaust is a good 25% louder than before the chop during low rpms and about the same when wot.

Interesting. I really like the look with the chop vs. having the tail pipe stick out behind the tire. I'm pretty happy with the sound of the straight pipes I'm running right now. If it gets to be too much with the chop, I might have to throw my 6" system back on.

Spoke with Keith a couple times about several mods and received sound guidance. These systems are custom and hand built for your truck. I live in San Diego - Getting 8" standard on his week. Can't wait! I will attempt before and after video and post when installed.

Drove up to Keith's place yesterday and he hooked it up in less than hour. Great chatting with him and 100% satisfied with the system- it is bitch'n!! Highly recommend.

Mine arrived on Thursday, and was on the truck with hours of arriving. Took about 45 min to install everything. I couldn't be happier with the sound! Fairly quiet at idle, virtually no drone at highway speeds, but roars nicely when the pedal goes down!

I had mine on for 3 weeks with out resonator then 2 weeks with resonator and was way to quiet for me bt still sounded good.......so I ordered the block off plate from Keith and installed it so now I'm back with out resonator and like it much better

The sound is pretty awesome though I have tried 2 others prior to this muffler and by far the best sound is ba muffler......I work at dealer and listen to the TRD pro pretty often but for the money I will still say ba muffler is better

I have the 8” bam system, I was about to take the old muffler to sell for scrap. They offered $50 for it. I’ll cut out piece I need from it.

What's louder, the 8" without resonator or the 6" with the resonator?

Keith sais the 8 is deep rumble and 6 is raspier......so 6 is louder with different tone

Watch the you tube videos but listen to the videos with good headphones or on good computer speakers and you can see the difference

It depends. An 8 with no resonator will be more noticeable under normal driving around town from inside the cab. Deeper rumble. Sounds really good. All these systems sound better with no resonator when just driving normally around town, IMO. At highway speeds, the 8 with no resonator will also be more noticeable due to the drone. Under WOT, the 6 with no resonator will be more noticeable, but not necessarily louder. Its tone will be more aggressive. I wouldn't say the 6 is raspy, but it's moving in that direction. Sound is nice.

I've had the 6, 8, and budget with and without resonators. I'm currently running the budget with a resonator. Nice rumble around town. Little to no drone on the highway. Aggressive when I get on it a little, or I can make it sound like a damn fart cannon when I peel out of my buddy's driveway in the country.

Here are some video clips of each system with and without resonator. I had the 8 first, so I was a little light on the pedal when I made those videos.
