We know how. It’s about allocating money. Gotta prioritize. And nature hasn’t been a priority in many years.

Should I cancel my trip to Yosemite on the 19th? I was gonna stay in Oakhurst but the fire looks close to there. I've been to Shaver but not familiar with the area.

I’ve got family in Oakhurst. As of yesterday, Fire was threatening Bass Lake. Figured it’d be two days (so, tomorrow) to know if Oakhurst needs to evacuate. But I can’t imagine you’ll have vacation-y pastimes open to you by the 19th.

Problem is, all could be well now, and change in an hour on that dry, wooded mountain. True for all of California in these temperature conditions.

All good now, Thanks. 76% containment this morning. We voluntarily evacuated for a few days. The fire was 5 mi from us, smoke was terrible and burnt leaves were falling on our property.

A guy in Texas walked into a bar and said, "I'd like a Corona and 2 hurricanes." Bartender says, "That'll be $20.20."

    All true!

Fires need fuel and spark. We chose to leave fuel all over the ground

This is just getting worse and worse. Just when we started seeing clear skies out here
I heard the SoCal fire was due to a gender reveal party. Idiots. It's bad here in Sacramento right now, ashes falling everywhere from the Fresno area fire.

Especially up there. Couple years ago some Beetle killed a bunch of the trees and there's fuel everywhere.

We got one day of riding in on Saturday, I could see the smoke creeping in later that afternoon and it was getting worse by nightfall. Woke up Sunday AM and it was super bad, so we decided to bail. Glad we did. There was an announcement today that the Inyo Natl Forest is closing at 5pm.

There are fires all over the place right now. I was in SD yesterday and had my truck covered in ashes from the Alpine fire. Got home to Moorpark last night and have ashes on my cars from the one near Santa Clarita.

@831Tun I was in the bay area 2 weeks ago and you guys, Gilroy, and Napa had fires going. I hope those are done by now.

Yup, here too. That’s what I meant most, @rockmup , when I talked about California not prioritizing environmental projects in budgets. The beetles have ravaged SoCal forests for years. Years of drought rendered the trees and other vegetation too weak to fight off the beetle. So we’ve had dead trees standing everywhere for 2 decades, and any rain or wind knocks them down. Fires ravage everything. Many of us have great ideas for how the dead wood could have been removed and utilized, but— whether due to misguided environmentalists or lack of fiscal planning for necessary forest management— I can’t see a remedy at this point. Humans f’ing up the planet.
