Decided to start a build thread on my 2012 Tundra SR5 4x4 DC. Purchased the truck in September of 2012. It came equipped with the chrome appearance package. The first mod was installing an Extang Trifold tonno and WeatherTech floorliners.Photo-0062.jpg
Next came the Toyota tube steps and bugshield. Not satisfied with the factory shift knob, I replaced it with a TRD Rockwarrior version. My family and friends think I'm crazy because I like to take care of my vehicles, and that includes the bed of my truck, so I installed a BedRug bedliner. I then got the idea to add a couple of LED puck lights that I picked up at my local Lowe's Home Improvement store. I attached them using heavy duty Velcro. bedrug.jpgled light.jpgshift knob.jpg front end.jpg grille 1.jpg
My latest mod is the addition of a billet grille overlay I got from Spark's Toyota. Installation is pretty simple and you reuse the original emblem by snapping it into the billet grille mounting locations and tightening 2 small set screws to hold it in place. front end.jpg grille box.jpg grille 2.jpgside view.jpg

I don't use it all the time, but I have hauled home improvement supplies, i.e. bagged mulch, lumber, plywood, etc. I also use it to haul our bikes to local trails.

I installed the rug and the grille myself. Both were pretty simple. The rug installs with heavy duty Velcro strips on the floor and around the sides. The grille is a simple bolt-over so I didn't have to cut out the original grille shell.

hey bigrob, I have a tonno cover on my bed so I haven't noticed much water, however, I do get some moisture between the tailgate and bed seam when I run it thru the car wash but it is dry by the next day.

no smell. It's made of marine grade carpet so it is mildew resistant.

Pulled the trigger on a leveling kit. I decided to go with the Pro Comp Pro Runner SS struts/shocks front and rear. They raised the front 2 inches. Original measurement was 36 5/8" from the floor to the lip of the fender well, after install it is 38 5/8". I still have a 1" rake front to rear, but it looks a lot better and I am happy with the ride. leveling kit front.jpg leveling kit profile.jpg

Good looking truck. I had the Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my 2004 Tacoma (215,000 miles and was still going strong) that I just sold. Those were the best tires I ever had. We had a lot of snow in WV this year and I didn't spin a tire. Wish they made them in 33/12.50/18 for my Tundra.

New wheels and tires. Decided to go with the Nitto Terra Grappler 275/70/18 mounted on 18x9 V-Tech Vision Rage wheels. Have a slight rub in reverse when the wheels are turned hard to the left.

I had the truck re-aligned after the lift was installed. No problems so far. the Steering wheel is straight and no bump steer.
