I think the trailer system on the Tundra is pretty much table stakes now? My F150 had the same disable the back up sensor issues and I know Ram has had a trailering system for 3 or 4 years. I don't know about chevy/gmc.

How long is the break in process? I have 400 miles on my truck and planned to tow my 4000 lb camper next week.

I think the manual states wait 1000 miles before towing. . I waited 600

I'm not either but if towing 5k at 600 miles is going to hurt it, it ain't worth having!

So I guess my SR5 doesn't have the auto brake option.. no button, but have the integrated brake controller. I'm okay with that.

Just pulled out the manual. Does not recommend towing until 500 miles, and not over 50mph until 1000 miles.

When backing a 4-pin I can't get rid of the incessant beeping.
Like everyone else, I crapped myself due to the auto-brake the first time because I didn't know to push the dang button. Now I'm wiser and have a new pair of drawers, so I know to hit the button when backing, but I cannot for the life of me get rid of the incessant beeping. The truck detects the trailer, I set the trailer length, but every time I throw it in reverse the truck freaks out that there's something there when it aught to freak out if there WASN'T. Hitting the mute button on the wheel doesn't end it.

Any suggestions for how to stop the beeping?

I know the feeling. That really screwed me up the first time I pulled a trailer with my new truck. I was backing in and had to block traffic until I could figure out which button to push.

Has anyone with surge hydraulic brakes tried telling the truck that it's electric brakes in the setup? Wondering if this would get the truck to recognize the trailer and disable beeping and auto braking?

You don't have to disable the parking sensor button or mute the beeping?

I'm just looking for some kind of work around to automatically disable all the bells and whistles everytime. Maybe some kind of resistor on the brake wire or something would be great.

When you put it in reverse you should get a message on the MID to temporarily mute, press the OK button on the left side of the wheel. The beeping will return if you take it out of reverse and then back to reverse again......PIA if you're not proficient at backing lol.

Mine mutes for a moment and then continues beeping at me. Sometimes it'll pop the mute dialog again, but pressing OK again only removes the popup, not the beeping.

I'd have the dealership look at it......it should work as described.

So the first 2 times I backed up the truck didnt sense it, the third time holy hell the brakes slammed on. So to answer the OP question, you must disable it with surge brakes

I’m going to try installing a 2 ohm resister on the brake circuit to see if that fools the truck into disabling the bells and whistles automatically. I’ll let everyone know the results.

Why doesn’t it turn off when you plug in trailer 7 pin

My theory is you have to electric or electric over hydraulic brakes for the truck to sense the trailer automatically and disable stuff. I have a 7 pin plug but have surge brakes and it doesn’t auto disable.
