Courtesy of YouTube , this is the white harness he uses for the mirror.
I'm guessing mine must be located in the A pillar

It's either going to be behind the roof console or behind the headunit depending on trim. The a pillar is just where the roof console plug's wires are routed through

Ok, thank you for you help. Must be behind the head unit then. Might just have to run my own wiring then

Might be easier and cheaper to add this android head unit - it comes with a back-up camera. Granted it's a license plate frame camera. But you could just as easily add this and still have a better solution for less money.

I bought this unit and installed it in my '08 and other then some very slight static noise (only audible when sitting in truck with engine off - but radio on) it's a great unit that fits well and has a huge screen.

Do you have anymore complaints on your android head unit? I like the looks of it.

I don't. From what the research I've done the static is attributed to the wifi antenna.

I actually am really enjoying the unit so far. Just got back from an 8 hr round trip and loved having the screen for hooking up my trailer - turned the hot-spot on my phone and ran Waze on the deck and ran music directly from google play.

I wish I had the knowledge/know how to move my back up camera to my aftermarket stereo (pictured). Not sure if it even has that ability, but the one I have now is a tiny drop down monitor above the mirror on the roof. Like seriously 2" x 2" haha. I can barely make out anything on it. #tinycamerasyndromeTundra stereo.jpg

When I purchased a Pioneer 4200nex head unit from Best Buy, I had them route the oem backup camera(I had same setup as yours) to the new head unit screen. Not sure how much of a pain in the ass it was for them, but they did it.

Picture quality is great - I think the limiting factor is the camera. The screen itself is capable of 1080. I'm using a cheaper camera that I self installed on my tailgate near the handle so the image during use can be a bit grainy depending on time of day. But it's clear enough to use it while hooking up my trailers.

I didn't use the license plate camera that comes with it - so can't comment on the quality of that piece.

I would recommend a new head unit (any major brand) and the replacement Tailgate latch with camera. Your tunes will sound better and the HU screen will be larger. Just my .02

Head units available at Best Buy, Crutchfield (online), local stereo shops, Ebay, Amazon etc.. Local shops usually can give you a better deal with install.

I purchased my rear view camera off of Amazon. I also purchased a Sony head unit (Sony XAV-AX5000) since the rear view camera that I bought from Amazon works only with an aftermarket stereo.
The camera is crystal clear and the installer was very impressed with the picture quality and even more surprised that I bought it off Amazon. I'll take photos later and upload. Screen Shot 2019-01-24 at 10.13.14 AM.jpg Screen Shot 2019-01-24 at 10.12.00 AM.jpg

I second the pioneer NEX series, got an 8200 myself and it’s awesome. They’ve got 2 camera inputs. Just finished up installing a front camera myself for a whopping $13 off Amazon. You can bounce seemlessly between both cameras, even when driving.

That's awesome I was just getting ready to post that alot of after market head units you can use the cameras while driving if you set them up correctly. My Kenwood I use as a camera on my camper while driving and backing into a spot now I don't have to depend on my wife to guide me any more thats nice lol Message_1528053981087.jpg
