There were some issues. Probably the worst in retrospect was the resale value. My 2015 F150 had an MSRP about $15k higher than my wife's 4Runner Limited. 2.5 years later, they both had the same trade-in value! Then the other things... The door latches were bad (now recalled) and I ended up having to hold my door shut to drive to work in the winter at least a half dozen times. One time the panoramic sunroof started draining into my dashboard and it would spill out onto my leg while driving. They never fixed either of those things on my truck although they did eventually acknowledge the latches were messed up. Also, the infotainment system was horrible. The bed was impossible to get even remotely sealed so it would suck in dust like crazy. Some plastic pieces liked to come off way too easily like the one on top of the tailgate step. All sort of minor things compared to a major mechanical problem, but I've hardly ever had problems with the Toyotas I've owned. I got the Ford up to a little over 50k miles and I was afraid to keep it much longer. I have a coworker who has had his go into 'limp mode' 3 times in the first 100k miles where he had to drive hundreds of miles going like 20mph to get it fixed. My new Tundra may not have all the bells and whistles that the Ford had, but at least they all work reliably and it'll be worth a lot more when it's time for the next one.

My first gen is a 2wd double cab. Leveled on 33s. No bells and whistles. I LOVE IT that way!!!! Simple, easy, reliable as hell.

I passed on a brand new Rock Warrior in 2012 and bought a f150 ecobust instead. Big mistake. First vacation trip with it out of town, the intercooler split open and caused a turbo seal to go south which spewed a bunch of oil all underneath. It was in the shop quite a bit over 2 years for all kinds of things. The final straw was when the motor started knocking (with only 45k on it) and it was low on power. Ford acknowledged there was a problem but ford corporate would not approve an exploratory tear down. I was told to drive it until it breaks, then we’ll know what the problem is. It also had some electrical gremlins they couldn’t figure out. No thanks. I actually traded it in for my 2014 4runner. I took a little hit financially but it was worth it just to have something reliable.

Yikes! I guess I came out relatively unscathed, aside from losing a ton of equity with the drop in value. Back on track now...

I almost replaced my 2008 with a F150 before I decided to go with my 2018 instead. OP's saga makes me glad I didn't!
