Also, I'm about to replace my battery ends and looked for the best way to keep power during the transition. I found this video, he is using a "memory saver" on a NOCO battery.

    https://youtu.be/ybXVBffMBLk

Is there any reason a standard cable used to communicate to Techstream and a NOCO should not do the same thing?

The USB from the Mini VCI cable is going to be 5v, which probably wouldn't supply enough to keep things alive. And then you'd have to see if the right pins are involved, which I'm not positive which one is used from the OBD2 port.

Anyone have a recommendation for an auto AC repair place on the West side?

I was at Right Toyota today picking up a part I ordered.

The lot that is usually full of new cars was literally empty...zero cars.

Does anyone know the reason for this?

Are they going out of business?

I was looking forward to at least seeing one of the new Gen 3 trucks, but one of the only vehicles in the show room (if you can even call it that) was a Range Rover.

    Very weird.

The parts department was so busy I didn't have a chance to ask anyone.

Looks like it is the "chip shortage", due to COVID, specifically.

Wow, I didn’t see that comin’.

I thought, apparently mistakenly, that this was a thread for fellow Arizonans to ask questions and get friendly advice from other fellow Arizonans...boy was I wrong.

Yeah, Covid, I know all about it. I have known personally at least four people who have died from it, and numerous people who have been seriously sick from it, including my elderly mother. I’m a health care professional and my knowledge of the disease is more in depth than a few google searches. I have been anything but oblivious.

My dang Tundra has been so darn reliable that I haven’t found it necessary to go to the dealership since before Covid. That being said, after 12 years and almost 200K miles the passenger cv axle on my truck failed and I needed to go to Right Toyota this past week to pick up the parts I ordered.

I get the supply chain thing, but what confused me was the other dealerships I drove by on my way to Right Toyota at least had cars on their lot, hence my question asking what was up.

I’m sorry you found my question so insufferable.

You can freely ask questions, and I can freely reply as I did, no reason to take it so harsh for joking about saying how you admitted to not knowing about any of what’s going on at a dealership. It still is true that If you don’t know what is going on at dealerships you have been able to avoid a lot then, between news, internet, and this forum since it’s been going on and building for well over a year.

Basic situation, Covid (which btw I didn’t mention that was someone else) but stemming from that the labor shortage, supply chain, chip shortage, and dealer markups.

New cars could no longer meet demand to fill dealerships, dealerships started to only be able to fill orders for customers meaning what arrives is already sold and nothing to test drive or see on lots except used cars at huge mark ups due to the only vehicles available for sale. Now if you see cars sitting at a dealership not sold, and at large quantities it’s either used cars, or they have taken msrp and added a 5-10k markup for a “demand fee” causing them to sit a little longer versus instant buying, or another tactic of forcing warranties of packages on a vehicle to drive the price higher as well. If a dealership is practically empty minus high priced used cars it’s often because they are selling at msrp and not doing this up charges, driving more business and less inventory.

Then after this happening for the last year, manufactures like Toyota have for months now announced they will no longer produce to fill lots in general again, I think it was quoted as a 40% reduction in overall production, that it will be focusing on an al a cart ordering for customers and producing mainly what is being paid for from a pre order, this saves them from having to waste materials on cars that may sit longer and not sell until end of year sales, which will become a thing of the past when dealers won’t have to worry about last years models if they don’t even have them on lots.

There's a $92,000 Tundra at Earnhardt in case anyone's interested. Supposedly "built" for one of the Earnhardt kids, who now doesn't want it.

From what I remember it had Icon shocks and UCA's, and custom wheels.
