Our Axis does well until you fill the ballast - then it makes the Tundra look like a Prius. We burn around 10 gph surfing with everything full.

Hopefully the weight police aren’t watching... 1650 in the back (1000 port 650 starboard) 500 mid and between 500-700 bow depending on size of the crew with a Nauticurl. Thankfully it is all plumbed, concealed and wired to the dash.

We have a 1200, 800 and like 400 bow at the moment. Nothing is plumbed yet, waving to do it. Then the front will get a concealed as well during that time. We use the Mega shaper from LF.

    What motor you running?

We have a 5.7 340hp GM motor. Using a 1235 prop iirc but kind of want a stump puller....only problem then is, rpms cruising. Already around 3500 or so at 30mph.

It’s an IndMar 5.7 rated at 325 hp. I’m getting by with the 2247 prop but it does take a bit to get up to surf speed fully loaded. I occasionally take a slalom run (31 mph) so I’m trying to avoid more prop.

Edit to fix the prop info. 2247 not 2447.

Anyone been up to Chevelon Canyon Lake before? It’s pretty remote, but pics look nice. I’m wondering if the drive is worth it...

Yup, was up there a couple weekends ago. A lot of nice spots back up in there. Hard to get to chevlon unless you like to hike though.

Your legs will thank you. Also the growing boys. Even a double cab is surprisingly big. @KevinK convinced me a double cab was a good choice. Test drove an inferno pro Tacoma then the inferno tundra. There was no way I’d ever do a Tacoma again. Power is so much better in a tundra. The mpg loss is negligible.

Agree 100%. Once you get used to how spacious the tundra is, Tacoma isn’t an option. I feel trapped if i sit in a Tacoma.

Took the family up to Bear Canyon Lake this weekend (my truck’s maiden voyage going camping). Pretty place and great weather. With it getting hotter down in the valley, Mother’s Day weekend, and everyone getting stir crazy, there were a lot of people up there.

Love Bear Canyon Lake. Have been doing an annual boys trip up there for 15 years. Not surprised to hear there were lots of people up there considering everything goin on. Do any fishing?

No fishing this trip, just hiking around, relaxing, teaching my son how to shoot a bow and arrow, etc. I’ve had very few days off work the last few months so I owed it to the family to get out of town and reconnect. Best part was turning off my phone for a solid 48 hours and just spending time with my wife and kids.

Speaking of up north camping areas.. My favorite spot is on the rim FR171 Campground. Was driving around up there a couple weeks ago and the entire road from the Mogollon Rim visitor center to the other end on Young Hwy/512 was closed. Anyone have any idea when that is planning to be open?

Hey folks, hope all is well. I’m a new member here, selling my 2014 supercharged Tacoma this week and will be needing a new truck. Though I’m not sure if it’s downgrade or upgrade, but I’m looking to get an ‘05/06 Tundra. I was looking into a Raptor but with how the housing market is going, I want to have some extra cash just in case a deal pops up.

With that being said, anyone looking to make a few extra bucks? I am eyeing this truck (https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/peoria-mint-condition-4x4-toyota-tundra/7121485763.html) but I am located in San Diego. Wouldn't mind paying someone to go take a look at this for me and give me a report on the truck. If anyone is up for this, shoot me a PM and we can work out the details. I'll be sure to include some beers, bottle of liquor/wine or amazing dinner in the deal.

Picture of said truck being sold:)

It’s only a little farther past Woods Canyon, you turn off Rim Road onto the 300 and go for about 15 minutes. There are 2 or 3 roads off the 300 that take you to different parts of Bear Canyon Lake.

Gotcha. Thanks for the intel. Maybe I have been back there. I know I’ve gone straight instead of turning right towards Woods Canyon. It’s just been awhile

I just started using Gaia GPS, but that shows pretty good detail on how to get back there. Not sure if you're already running that, @KeetAz

It’s marked pretty well (signs, etc) so it’s not too difficult to find. If you go anytime soon, just be aware that all bathroom facilities are currently closed and you have to pack out your trash. The closest dumpster along Rim Road was overflowing with garbage, so we had to pay to drop ours at the waste station right off Woods Canyon Lake.

Yeah that whole area is getting slammed right now. We actually enjoyed Munds Park better a couple weeks ago than the Rim. There’s just no water there, which is a big reason it’s more calm. We like taking day trips up north just to unplug and get the kids away from screens.
