A local guy on the AZ Facebook page says you pull the ABS1 fuse and 4x4 still works. A trac and auto lsd and all that stops working obviously though since it’s dependent on the abs system. He says he pulled his months ago and still 4 wheels almost every weekend.

I also despise abs in the dirt. I’ve been controlling brakes in the dirt for like 35 years and I hate when the truck decides to just stop slowing down.

I plan to test this, and if it works, I’ll mount a switch in the cab to control a relay that will interrupt the abs fuse. When the truck turns off and back on, abs will be on for regular driving (safety), but you can flip this switch to immediately turn abs off. I should be able to flip the switch off and get atrac and auto lsd back too. I don’t know if that will require an ignition cycle though for the ecm to perform the abs system ready function.

I haven't done the whole loop in probably 4 years but at least 3/4 of the trail if not all of it can be done in 2 wheel drive. You need clearance but nothing crazy. We can find you some fun spots to test your pro.

We did a quick prerun today with a few trucks.

Mine is "stock" height in the rear (clapped out Icon enhancement leaf pack...literally I sit exactly stock with my leaf pack and larger tires.....)and I dragged my hitch in one area, otherwise no issues.

Need a good, aggressive tire - stock or the like might get chewed up a bit with possibilities of catching a flat. Few sharp rocks here and there along the way, little rocky (no significant bolders) for the most part not bad.

**I'm going to ask that this run be limited to 14 additional people only** I would like to run 3 groups of 5 with about 10minutes between groups.

Certain sections are single track with limited space for maneuvering around oncoming traffic. Hence wanting to keep it spaced a little in smaller groups.

Please let me know if your interested in leading a geoup, trail is easy to navigate.

I dont know how people do it, scheduling events like this.....but please join the AZTG FB page and get into the group. I started the event there and the event from here on out will be updated on that page for updated meeting time/group departure times and stuff of that nature .

    Thanks

Anyone running w/o their hitch? That thing gets in the way. But MCM Matt says we need some sort of stiffener back there.

Yeah you need to brace the rear frame and probably box the frame. Otherwise you will find out the flex is a bit much if you push the truck. I took mine off and added a high clearance bumper but not enough bracing.

The hitch ties the frame together at the end of the flexy C channel frame with a beefy piece of steel.
Here is a video of the bed flex. The tiregate probably didn't help since a 100lb tire was sitting on it.

    Howdy, Neighbors!

I'll be headed out soon to do a family road trip (mostly pavement and "tourist friendly" dirt roads and nights in hotels). I'm hoping for some up to date info on road conditions with regards to weather and construction.

Specifically, is the 64 open and easy traveling this time of year? Thinking of going from the S. Rim of the Grand Canyon East on 64, north on 89 to 160 up into Monument Valley. Also want to know anything I need to know about the 191, the 264, and best routes in and out of Chaco Culture National Heritage Park. We've got our route set with regards to lodging, but figured I should ask you local experts for updated travel info, cautionary tales....

I'll sure appreciate any advice you throw my way. Thanks, Guys!

@KevinK @boardude can you help me by tagging anyone you know lives up that way...?
