Hello everyone, so I've owned my 2017 Toyota tundra platinum for about four months now give or takE. I purchased a truck brand-new off the showroom floor and since day one my average fuel economy is reading 14.5 miles per gallon I've taken a couple road trips and it hasn't changed yet. I did some light research about this issue and it seems that many people have had this problem so now I am wondering what should I do. I have read that people disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes and it fixes the glitch. Any help? Thanks

I got 13.8 on this last road trip we just got back from. I thought that was good. IN town I get more like 12.4/12.8

It costs me about $20 a day to get my daughter to and from school

I'm thinking a teleporter might be cheaper. Can I borrow yours @Law323 ?

    1. Get on the highway
    2. Click the "DISP" button on your steering wheel until it shows average MPG
    3. Click and hold the "DISP" button for a couple seconds and your average MPG will be reset
    4. Drive 60 mph on the highway and watch it skyrocket to like 18-19 mpg
    5. Switch the display so it doesn't show the average MPG when you start driving in the city again.

It hasn't changed from 14.5 mpg yet. I took my truck from Bradenton , florida to Miami. Was doing 90-100mph thruoigh alligator alley and it still never changed. Is it me or the truck?

I'm gonna have to say the truck. Have you tried resetting it? There's no way it can go that long with no change.

If you don't reset the avg mpg it keeps averaging so even driving like a granny going 55 on the highway for several tanks won't make much of a change. Like the guys said hit the DISP and it should reset. Mine varies from 10.5 for pure stop and go in the city to 16.2 on a 240 mile highway trip I just did. I've only got 3500 miles so far on mine.

You need to reset it by holding down the DISP like other's have mentioned. You gotta remember, it's still calculating from the first day it was born, ha. So all the tests, dealership driving, and it just sitting there idling. Doing 90-100 is going to lower it too. Reset it, drive normal and see what it does. I hover between 15.8-16.3.

The electronic mileage readout is not an accurate means of knowing your mileage. To get exact mileage you need to divide how many miles you have driven by the gallon you put in your tank. Sometimes the electronic readout is close but most of the time it's of by at least half a mpg. I've gotten up to 18.5 mpg on long road trips with primary HWY miles. In the city I get 13.5 to 15.5 mpg depending on season and foot.
