Absolutely! Same story here...this is all gas/hybrid and color combos. Only 73.

 

Now all he needs to do is ask you pretty please to tell him information of dealers who have these trucks with tow mirrors in route so he can reach out to them

My local Toyota sales rep was nice enough to run a search in his program to point me to other dealers in the state getting truck I was looking for

 

Ha! He's told me what I need to know. I'm just still butt hurt that I can't buy a Red 1794 with the brown interior. I have to pick a different color, or deal with a Platinum and black leather (which I feel is boring).

As soon as I can figure out colors (one of the silvers and white)...I'll send him a PM and walk through the process.

 

OP, this is an awesome thread. Don’t know how I missed it when looking. I bought a green sport this week from Galveston Toyota and they were the least professional group I’ve ever dealt with. I was an easy sale. Bought for asking, just needed anyone to close the deal (I’m out of state). They were just God Awful at their jobs, but I endured it because I didn’t need anything from them. It was priced fairly and I was okay with it. Literally just needed someone to send the paperwork. Their management reached out to me yesterday and asked me to review their dealership, and gave a group of links to different sites they wanted me to review them at. I emailed back, telling them they did not want me to do a review because it would be terrible. I tried to be nice. They emailed me this morning with the exact same request to rate them, so I did. 1 star almost across the board. Then? I get phone calls like crazy. Their sales team specifically asked me to do them a favor and remove the reviews because it will hurt their business. Seems super unethical.

anyway, had I have seen this, you’d have been the way for me. I apologize and thank you for what you’re doing. Hope you make a million bucks this year

 

I appreciate the kind words, we honestly try to run as clean of a dealership as possible. No BS, no lies (even though someone always will find a way to accuse us of that lol). COVID had a lot to do with things and how dealers operate too, unfortunately. From a greed standpoint, owners decided to mark things up. From an internal standpoint, 90% of dealers lost most of their sales staff through layoffs when we weren't even allowed to sell. When you try to piece together a sales staff that doesn't know anything, it creates such a bad experience for the guest. Thankfully, I can't remember the last time our dealership lost a salesperson (even through covid).

 

Agreed that this thread is incredibly helpful. I fully intend to buy a truck from OP(just need to create a list of options and priorities). It’s a little frustrating that Toyota list options on the build site that it seems are next to impossible to obtain in a reasonable time frame. But they have what we want and that’s an upper hand so we’re just along for the ride.

Couple options. Your truck can be delivered to you, or you can buy a super cheap red-eye one way flight and drive it back with a friend or family. I just bought my truck 1,500 miles from where I live and it makes for a great little mini vacation. I was looking at buying one in NC and the flight was only $230. For a couple hundred extra, you’ve paid for gas on the trip home. It really isn’t nearly as much of an inconvenience as most people think!

 

In the past few weeks I’ve taken deposits from people in Texas, California, Vermont, ohio and Idaho. Shipping really isn’t a huge cost anymore relative to what you’re buying and potentially saving. If you’re 5k over sticker on something over there … you’ll still save thousands lol

That report is for your region. Not all 3000 miles. Keep up the good work!!

 

Not stupid, just in the wrong regions apparently. My sales guy has contacted me about several trucks available at MSRP or lower. Had a Capstone sitting last time I went by.

It certainly depends on region but mainly on what’s available. I have a 1794 hybrid available in red and highly discounted but any other color would have been gone before it was built

 

Also on the dealer as you know better than me. One local dealer usually has 6-12 trucks on the lot while you rarely see a truck on another. How do they stay in business? Selling used?

 

It’s pretty much the same at all dealers, we still get about 75% of the new vehicles that we used. So the new cars just don’t sit and are delivered to those customers that were waiting within a few days.

 

I'm in Pittsburgh and those top few trucks are 2000+ miles away in the state of Washington. It's crazy how few trucks they build with tow mirrors.

 

How often does new allocation come out? For example, if I look at Toyota website inventory for my 500mi radius and don't see anything I like, how often does it refresh with new allocation and planned builds, by dealer? Monthly? Weekly?

 

Every two weeks. I can't speak for all regions though.
