This doesn't surprise me, I had a 2018 Highlander and certain expectations and found it just... doesn't meet them. It's a fun crossover for a fat sedan, but it's not great at being a truck with it's minivan suspension, it's not great at being a people mover with it's horribly tiny 3rd row, it's not great at anything. I much prefer my Tundra for everything I ever used my Highlander for.

Remember, all Sienna's are hybrids. If they still came in a gas version, they would be way more available. I'm telling people it could be 2 years for certain trim levels when they leave a deposit and get on our list.

Agreed. It's beyond frustrating when Toyota will put some options in some vehicles while not available in others. Even in it's highest trim level. My wife loves her sedan and has no plans on getting a minivan in the future (only have 1 child <1 year old) but if we did, we'd go Sienna.
Omg 6 of us went from Akron to Nashville in 18 HL. The ladies had to sit in the 3rd row and it's atrocious how small it is. Other than for smaller kids, or a dog, it's useless for seating capacity.

What's the hold up on hybrids? Components for the battery system?

I've asked over and over again but no one has ever given specific answer. My gut still says hybrid = more chips needed so they would rather build/wholesale lower trim, gas model ones.

I was told that they will be focusing on Sienna production coming up in the very short term.

What did you end up paying above msrp to get it quick?

    As it should be!

My dealer doesn't mark up off MSRP. Hasn't during all of these shortages either. Not sure if the dealers that do markup, get some kind of allocation preference or not.

The manufacturer has made it clear they DO NOT want dealers marking them up but they can't do much to stop it. The earnings for allocations are an extremely complex formula. It's based on things such as turn rates, sales to availability, running averages, etc.

Thank you though for the information and for setting up this thread. We were looking at possibility doing a 2 car deal to get me into a 23 Tundra, but finding what I want at the same dealer along with what she is looking for, the times right not is not for it. lol

Edit: Well that didn't take long. Sequoia was sold in 6 minutes to a forum member lol.

Random but if anyone is interested in a TRD Pro Sequoia in solar ocatane, I have one here and available on ground. It will be sold at MSRP + 449 doc fee + your state fees/taxes. Must be delivered by month end.

I’ve been waiting for a 1794 6.5ft bed with tow mirrors since April of last year. My dealer is a very popular local dealer in Mechanicsburg, PA. Now I’m leaning toward a Platinum since they appear to be more available. Thoughts?

It’ll work for 95% of what I need it for. It’s like a tundra but the wife can actually drive it better. She struggles with the tundra. I will say though this may not last long if that grand highlander comes out quick

OP is a Sales Manager at Greensburg, PA. Toyota.
You should contact him. Seemed to be fairly open about info on the vehicles and what he can sell.

I have a vehicle on allocation with them. Hopefully when it comes in the deal goes smooth and I am travelling a few hundred miles.

    hello gents and ladies.
Long time Taco owner looking to get back into a Tundra(had a 1st gen before my Taco). Op how available might something configured like this be? Color is flexible options have some play but not a ton. Not in a hurry, could see waiting for the 24’s in hope that APR’s come down a bit.

    Thanks for the insightful post.

the lift kit and aap will probably be the issue with this request, most likely long wait. good example was when we put in a request for unicorn built platinum, no avs and no auto boards. not one platinum was allocated to our region that fit that request in 6 months, finally gave up and took one with avs/auto boards.

Gotta be happy with what you have. I've had black vehicles and they look great when they are clean / detailed.
    Five minutes after that.... meh.
