How does that work? Does Toyota acknowledge at the time of build or the time its scheduled and say hey this needs to go to dealer 1234 and alert them? I'm sure its probably not hey we need to build stock # XXXX for dealer 1234. I'm thinking its more like look what I found.

Nope. As a dealer, you literally get a list of vehicles every two weeks. There's no control over it. There's a portal where we can "preference" vehicle builds but it doesn't do anything for the most part. Trying to get an exact build for a customer is almost impossible if the customer is picky. I always tell my customers to be extremely open on color/options as it's the quickest way to get a vehicle that will suit your needs. Again, this is my region (Central Atlantic Toyota) so it may vary in different regions but it seems similar from what I'm seeing.

That's kind of what I thought. My dealer told me a Platinum in red with the long box is a rare one. Because of the long box. He chuckled and said good luck. I said I was perfectly ok with Santa bringing it for me.

It could be 2024 Santa bringing it haha. I have seen 1 long box Platinum since they came out.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble at all, just trying to spread awareness on how things are going lately. It sucks lol

as stated, the more unicorn the build the least likely during the computer build order it will be built. in my example i wanted a blueprint 5.5ft 4x4 platinum w/o the (FIO factory installed options) factory AQ package (avs+hud) and the accompanying RB package (automatic running boards). i also wanted very specific accessories added during port (PIO port installed options). with all those requirements during the allocation reserve request, that particular build was never made during the 6 months we waited for that allocation request to be fulfilled. so we ended up taking an allocation the dealer was getting that included the AQ+RB FIO packages and some other PIO that we wanted and didnt want.

in the end we ended up waiting 10 months to even get our somewhat close request.

1st pic is our initial allocation reserve request back in early may-2022,
as you can see we didnt very much anything on this truck as we wer going to go aftermarket on a lot of features we preferred (static running boards), no need for avs (since we only maybe tow or load the bed once every 3-5 yrs).

2nd pic is our confirmation of our relaxed reserve request being fulfilled.

the relaxed version included the AQ (avs+hud), RB (automatici running boards), 2T (all weather floor liners), LB (bed liner), 3P (paint protection)

Yeah I know. I'll probably end up with a 6.5 box in a 1794 or a limited. Who knows. I've got time on my side though. That's my one advantage. I can wait it out for a year+.

Do all (most) of the platinum's have the all weather floor liners, the bed liner, and the paint protection? I think every one I've seen did.

not necessarily. right after i accepted my allocation reserve, another exact build without AQ+RB and only floor liners was allocated to the dealer. but it was missing the running boards, paint protection, bed mat so we just went with the one we accepted and in about 5 yrs (or less) if a better blue color comes along we will trade up.

Got the new allocation. Filled lots of customer order and only have one additional available as of now (red Capstone).

I've never posted a used Tundra on here but I put one up anyways because it's a super desirable build. It was one of the "loaner" vehicles that service uses when someones car needs work done. It's a certified used 2023 Limited Crewmax in Lunar rock/boulder interior with the TRD off road package and roof. It has just over 1000 miles on it...more details and pricing on the first post of this thread. If you have any more questions on it, PM me !

How hard is to get a 4WD Limited 6.5'? I wanted the SR5 8' but wife has convinced me that the bigger backseat will give my tools a more protected space.

That's what I got. There were a few of the 6.5 beds running around down here. I used AutoTrader to see what dealers were listing and then going to their individual websites to get better details before calling and confirming what they had. A lot of dealers are listing trucks that they have allocated, as well. makes it easy to find what you want if you're willing to drive to a different dealer.

Some dealers will stick you with 8.99 to get the fatter kickback. Some will increase the price if you bring external financing. Make you sign to make 3 payments. I took it, 2 weeks online account was available to setup, made 3 separate transfer and refinanced for half that with CU inside 30 days

Just want to give a shoutout to Corey @cdq85 and Greg at Toyota of Greensburg. They made the buying process super easy and were helpful and transparent throughout. They gave me regular updates on the vehicle status and responded to my questions immediately. I was picked up from the airport and in and out of the dealer in less than an hour. Great guys, great service. I love my truck. Thank you.

There is a pretty good chance a 2023 Tundra 1794 (gas) 6.5 bed will be becoming available. The truck is Army Green with saddle interior with an MSRP of $67,055 and will be sold for $66,075. It has been produced and on way to another dealer that we will be trading vehicles with. It would probably be here last week of May. If anyone has any interest, please PM me. Again, it's not 100% available but just wanted to give you guys a heads up as I know the 6.5 bed is pretty hard to come by in the upper trim levels.
