Nothing wrong with an upgrade, and if it get's your wife into the hobby, all the better! Congrats on finding a deal.

I got out for a rip this afternoon on the new ride. I was having my doubts if upgrading the ‘00 was the right move after the check engine lights came on for O2 sensors on both “new” machines, and a few other minor issues. But..

The trusty old girl is going up for sale. The latest mistress is way to good of a ride for that not to happen.

I'm still trying to find a kit that doesn't look like a bunch of cobbled together cheap junk. No luck yet. It's all just tiny dot LEDs that fill a hole that you drill in the RS1. They all look really cheap and tacky, IMO. This is the best of what I've found so far, and they are all just the little round dots.
    https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/ryco-utv-turn-signal-horn-kit-p?s=193244&v=16918

Am I just doomed to generic and cheesy turn signals if I want to take this thing on the road? @mattgecko when are are you getting into the ATV/UTV market? What's your professional opinion of the kit I linked?

I don't think the little LED looks bad personally, it's pretty inconspicuous most of the time. But I also own a canned ham :D

I definitely like the looks of the Can Am units (wouldn't complain about more pics of yours), but 2 seaters were outside my budget.

I guess I'm just a little jealous of my brother's slick kit he got for his 4 seat RZR Turbo. The "fang" lights up front, and it added the big tail light like mine has and converted to 2 smaller stock ones into the blinkers. His front ones are like this.

Now I don't have any panels like that to replace with lights. Though I did just see this, and it is on an RS1.

There's some can am lights like that where the eye brow running light can also be used as a blinker, but they're like $400. Considering my whole street legal kit was about that much, seemed excessive to double the price just so I looked cooler when taking a turn :D But no doubt if I had money to spare I would've gotten them.

For sure. The kits with the circle lights are much cheaper, but I did a quick snip of this kit, and it's a bit over 400 bones. I'd have to call them to get more info though. The tail light options they list make me worry that they think all the toys with a center rear tail light are also going to have the two side ones. Mind does not. It has one light in the rear, so I need to add some back there too.

Is that stock OD? That tubing looks huge, though maybe it's just an illusion since it's a small cage

1.75" it should be approx 6" lower in the rear and about 2" lower in the front part vs the stock cage

Thanks! Kinda went crazy sooner than I meant to, but a lot of my plans were "planned" around the cage so needed to knock that off the list. It's almost built where I want it to be!

Polaris irritates me. I posted, or rather, I attempted to post a review of the RS1. They rejected it and stated that I mentioned the exact price. I didn't. I said where I felt the price point should be for the RS1. I edited it a little to see if it'll go through, but because it's not a glowing review I bet it gets rejected.
    Screenshot_20200822-211727_Gmail.jpg20200822_211844.jpg

Apparently the highlighted part was the problem.

Don't get me wrong, I love the RS1 for what it is, but I think it needs a price cut of about 3 grand.

Crossed 1000 miles this weekend with the X3 and had it about 3 months so far. Yesterday I went ahead and ordered 32" KM3s, KMC beadlocks, Evo goods for 200hp, and dropping it at a buddy's shop to tune the clutches. That will cover the second round of modifications and prep it for desert season I think.

This was at 11,000ft and halfway through a 100 mile loop up to Brianhead/Cedar Breaks and back to the house.

Those Can-am machines look good. I'm super wary about getting different wheels on mine after watching some vids on how badly a change in backspacing can affect the components and ride of the machine. Makes me nervous. lol

My buddy has a rzr and after seeing the can ams and sitting in them we liked it a lot more. The canam is a lot more low and reclined and snug, where as the rzr felt like a skyscraper and you sat a lot more upright I thought. I've never been in a RS1 though.

I just read the forums a bunch about wheel selection, the wheels we're getting are nearly stock offset so it should feel about the same. Hopefully everything will be done by next weekend so we can take it out for labor day.

Just about ready for the first offroad trip with all the new mods!

All thats left is wheels, seats and *maybe performance mods (without sacrificing reliability)

This RTL is awesome, wired it for white to be a cargo light, and amber/red running lights

Well, on closer inspection, I was wrong. The kit pictured here is not on an RS1. It's on a regular RZR. :(

The RS1 is such a pigeon holed machine that there is little to no aftermarket stuff for it. Kind of a bummer.

Though, bit of good news, I did find out I don't need blinkers to be street legal in Wyoming. I just have to have 2 headlights,2 tail lights,2 brake lights, 2 rear reflectors, and license it. Headlights and reflectors are already good to go, and I need to ask about the tail lights and brake lights. It says there need to be two and only have one, BUT it is also just about the full width of the body. Hoping they'll let me slide and not have to actually have 2 of each. I guess I could always put some tape over the middle of it.

The first 8 1/2 minutes or so are great info for anybody looking at upsizing their tires or changing out their wheels. He explains it in a way that even I can understand it, so anybody should be able to get it!

Got the canned ham back from the shop yesterday. 32" BFGs, 15" KMC beadlocks, intercooler, fuel pump, blow off valve, 200hp (EVO 3R) tune, and custom clutch work. Thing fucking RIPS. Before it was stock 120hp with the stock 28" big horns, so huge increase all around. It's crazy how brutally quick it is. Got a switch pros that I'll install this week too, and probably order a radio to complement the intercom that we already have. Next plan is widen it to 72" with Kings and HCR stuff, but that's awhile out I think.

Looking good. Not sure It'd be worth going 72" vs starting over on a 72" and bringing parts over. Or does Can Am not make a 72" from the factory?

They do, but I got this one used so right now all in I'm around the same price as a new 120hp base model but make 200hp, 32s, cage, seats, belts, etc. Even after the cost of arms and new shocks, I'll be the same price as the highest end factory 72" model, with better shocks, stronger suspension components, more power, and all the other stuff. Plus didn't have to dish out $30k in one go. The factory 72" models are sweet, but even they eventually need stuff upgraded, instead of paying a premium for factory "upgraded" stuff that's not really an upgrade, I'll just be jumping from the cheap 64" straight to the ultra pimped aftermarket 72" without the premium of the OEM stuff that a lot of people throw away.

It's kind of like if you want a prerunner, you could either buy a Raptor and pay extra for all the OEM good bits and then throw those parts out for aftermarket stuff, or just get a F150 for way cheaper and throw all the same aftermarket parts on and end up with the same performance but costing similar to the initial price of the stock Raptor.

    Trying not to mod it
I follow now. I'm not much for modding my Quadzilla, so it's good to learn these things.

Part of why Can Am was out for me. Most of what I heard is Can Am have the absolute best potential on the market, but stock you will break them if you push it. They have to be upgraded to run hard, but the upgrade ceiling is really high with them. Because I planned to stay 99.9% stock I just went with Polaris. That and the price was in my range, as they are the only ones who make a single seater.
