Are there any advantages/disadvantages of going with the 6112's on the top setting vs at 1.9 w/ a shim? Just curious if there are reasons to choose one way versus the other.

I went with 1.9+shim to maintain a better ride quality. I netted exactly 2.5" on each side.

Less preload on the spring at 1.9” which lends to a better/softer ride

@dlowry81 I haven't run it both ways but I will say it make sense to have less preload on the spring. And the cost for the shims is very minimal. You will hear guys that have the 6112's at the top setting say it rides great also but like I said it makes sense to have less preload on the spring.
My experience with too much load on the spring was a set of Icon coilovers that I had maxed out on my 4runner, rode very stiff and much different with less pre load.

Did you replace UCA's also? Hows your alignment?

Drivers side OH SHIT handle, Ranch Hand grill guard/push bar,bed cover, TRD exhaust, TRD skid plate, running boards, locker down center console, spray in bedliner, 2019 Trd pro black head lights, led interior lighting, led fog lights, led back up lights . Trail rash on both sides.
So my 6112's arrived today and my 5160's yesterday, coachbuilder shims etc on the way 3" shackles. My question is should I replace the UAC's. I have been working a bit more than I should and can afford the bank drain. Thanks!

You should be fine up to 3” of lift in the front on stock UCA.

I have 3" shackles since we tow and wanted a tiny bit more lift.

Mine came shipped with some thick washers, I placed them under factory bump stops. I think it was two per side.

It has some MAJOR issues. I lubed as per directions, had some metal fatigue and a bit of a non catastrophe failure. The barrel of the unit had some issues. This was my fix had to file the area's to get it to decompress. It's going back to Amazon for a refund. I had high hopes for the tool and as going take care of three other cars and trucks :angrygirl:20190318_122509.jpg

No problem man, hope it helps. I have the same opinion today - 6112s are the perfect budget friendly option for a lift and suspension upgrade, without getting too wild. In my opinion spacers are a cosmetic only lift, not a real upgrade.

What Drew ke the guy before me had his handle covered. I've always just called the number on the website and gotten a quick response.

The assembled version is a real bonus for easy install. That's what had me look at Boss 4x4 in the first place.

MistrRoboto- let me get your opinion (others welcomed too!) - I asked this on the wheels/tires thread but maybe I should have asked it on the 6112 thread instead. Wondering what your experiences have been with stock CM + 6112 @1.9"+ stock wheels with either 285/60/20 or 275/60/20 tires.

    From the other post:
    • I've decided on Bilstein 6112's set at 1.9" setting for the front, at 5110 for the rear. That should still give me a ~0.475" rake which is good- I tow on some occasions and I don't want the bro-lean if I can avoid it.
    • I'm going to keep stock Platinum rims. Don't want to cut/bend any metal. Can remove mudflaps.
    • Per the sticky at the front of the tire/wheel thread, 285/60/20 should work with this lift, but it seems like some folks have had to cut to make these fit.
    • If I can't go with the 285/60/20, I'll go with the 275/60/20's that the sticky says should fit with no lift.
    • 275/60/20's appear to be significantly cheaper than the 285/60's so I may decide on that anyway
    (the other thread, post 1669- https://www.tundras.com/threads/off...-setups-pics-and-info.95/page-56#post-1089136 )
