Do you have a lift on yours? Stock wheels or aftermarket with different offset?

Thanks for the feedback bro. Discounts ordering me a set. They're $40 less than the Exo each. I told him that I wasn't going to be giving them more$ and he said he was going to talk to his boss to get it taken care of. So as long as they don't say I have to shell out more, I'll be sporting a set in a few days. I started a thread for more opinions in wheels and tires.

I bit the bullet and got discount to swap out for 285/65/18 BFG ko2 today. There way smaller, only about a half inch taller than stock. Not the look or ground clearance I wanted. But the truck drives way better. Trac did go off in the worst corner I have been having the issue on. But not nearly as nasty, something rubbing sound. I still don't think it should go off in a corner like that. You did do the alignment, the other day it looked like it was a little to toed in.

I didn't ask what pressure they put them at. Is it possible that the nittos screwed up the sensors. Discount said there was nothing wrong with the m. But then after it was all done, one of the guys said they would be sending them back to Nitto. Or is it just something that might settle down after a while, like the computer adjusting to the change?

Hey Jace, checking the alignment is probably a good idea. I'm going to check the torque on everything tomorrow and make sure I don't have a bad ball joint. @Sean266 and@mattlath came to my place today and checked it out. Even with the smaller bfg, only .5 and.5 taller than stock it's still doing it. It really seems like somethings rubbing. Sean thought he spotted where. Now I'm not sure. I'll pm you.

This issue has been resolved. Someone put on new taillights before my purchase and crossed the brake light and tail light wires. One green wire and one green wire with a red stripe on it. Easy fix once I spotted the problem. They used black tape and put a wire protector over it so it was hard to find the connection.

My dad has a Toyota Camry and every chance he gets he puts in neutral and coasts around. He tells me this is ok and does no damage to his transmission. Now that I have purchased a Tundra and do not get good gas mileage I find myself wanting to do the same thing. Does it do any damage to your transmission to put it in neutral and coast? That would mean at any speed where you can coast for a period of time.

I'm thinking that it's probably illegal and wickedly dangerous. Besides, when you're off the gas, your engine is using about as little fuel as it ever will save being turned off.

NOT TURNING ENGINE OFF. Just putting the gear selector in neutral and coasting. Does this do any damage to the transmission? I agree turning the engine off would be very dangerous.

You're not benefiting by doing this, neither is your father. It's just dangerous. When the engines RPMs are above 1500, and you are off the gas, the computer turns the injectors off. This is one of the ways that Toyota uses to better the fuel economy in it's vehicles. Don't do this, it's dangerous and you actually have LESS control of your vehicle while neutral coasting.

@Wynnded nailed it. Your mileage will be worse by coasting than by staying in gear because it's all controlled by the computer. Here's further (should start at 00:30) :

Will it damage your trans? Probably not... u are causing it to apply and disconnect clutch packs more then it needs to tho... I also agree, not very wise. I can't stand when people complain about mileage in a truck. If u don't like it buy a corolla....

Enough said I see all the issues. I'm not complaining about fuel mileage, but if I can improve it I believe I should.

I am having an issue with my interior lights not working at all after replacing the starter. My clock also doesnt keep time anymore. I disconnected the poaitive battery cable, removed the right side manifold, removed the starter, installed a new one, hooked the positive cable back up and no i have no interior lights and a clock that resets to 01:00 every time i shut the truck off and restart it. Cant find any blown fuses, and the cargo light still works. Any ideas? Was there a power source on the starter that i missed reconnecting? Was there a common ground for just the interior lights down by the starter that i may have broken??? Im at a loss here.

    Hey @LOTSOFTOYS !

I posted this question elsewhere with little response and was hoping to get you opinion.

In short, I replaced the rear diff fluid in my 2013 w 55k miles (I had for 5k). Fluid was a bit low and breather was plugged so it was building up pressure and leaking out pinion seal.

Below is what the drain plug looked like upon removal. In your professional opinion how bad does this look??

    Thanks!

I have an 09 Tacoma that I've put over a hundred thousand miles on, 135,00 bought at 14k, other than normal maintenance nothing has needed to be done. My family is growing and we are looking at moving into a used Tundra. Specifically were looking for <4 years old and less than <40,000 miles. Are there any known issues I should be concerned about? Are the Tundras as rock solid reliability wise as the Tacoma?

I'll be looking for the 5.7 crew cab with tow package.

    Thanks!

Does anyone know if the tundra side mirrors are interchangeable with the 2nd and 3rd gen. I have a 08 and found a mirror off a '15 Tundra, wanted to make sure it fits before I buy it.

The Entune/Nav system had issues where some would freeze then reboot frequently. It is usually solved by a firmware update by the dealer but for some, as in my case, the head unit had to be completely replaced. It's an easy swap though and doesn't require removing the dash.

Cam tower leaks have been known to occur and are often misdiagnosed by the dealer as the valve cover gasket.

You can search for both of these and find good details in the threads so that you can ask questions and keep an eye when purchasing. My 2014 is solid as a rock though. LOVE it. You'll be happy.

Lately I have noticed that after I start the truck and start to drive there is a slight clunk, from what I think is near the front of the engine, around the time the transmission shifts from 1 to 2. It only happens the one time while the engine is still running. As soon as I turn it off for a while and then start and go the noise happens again.
What do you think it would be? Should I take it in right away or wait for the next oil change to have it looked at?

Happen at 12mph? It's the ABS and is normal.
I've never read of this even once, might you have meant valve cover gasket rather than head gasket?
