Yeah that's not right. I'd have them look at it, leave it overnight on a cold night so in the morning they can verify

Mr. Toys, I've received the dreaded P0419 OBDII code. Should replacing the secondary air pump take care of this? Since I have a 2011 my Tundra is not covered by the extended warranty that Toyota issued for this issue (only covers up to '10). I'm fearing that I replace this and have the code persist.

What does that p0419 code mean again? Not near a computer...

And I quote: "Secondary Air Injection System Control B Circuit"

From what I've researched, the design allows moisture/water into the pump and can ruin it. I believe the check valve and switch are ok because those would throw an additional code if they were bad.

I've heard multiple times that the repair costs over $2k but I bought the parts for about $200 (pump, new tube design, gaskets) and plan to do it myself.

Here's some information I've found on the issue. Toyota knew it was an issue on '07 to '11 year models (TSB) but are only repairing the '07 to '10 year models.

    Jace,

I was reading that some dealerships may have the means to reprogram speedometers for larger tire size which is another option to having to buy the hyper tech unit. Is this true?

Ok so what I've found just in my quick research for u. That year range is not true^ the tsb applies to 2007-11 tundras. The reason the tsb is so costly is because it says to recommend the pump in question, the pump intake tubes and the valve set. The valve set is what is so expensive iirc. Basically what we do with this situation, would be to use the scan tool to active test both pumps, we can watch on the data list to see if the pumps are working based on pressure sensors. Then we watch to see if the valves are opening and closing. Most of the time the moisture gets thrown by the pump up the tunes towards the valves. If it gets there it rusts the valves making them stick closed or open.

I supposee that's why the tsb recommends it all because they don't know the extent of the damage. Toyota just wanted to pay once and be done with it.
If u replacw the tubes and the pump in questi on and it works, great! But I'm gonna guess the valves are acting up as well.
also side note... the valves suck to replace... under the intake. Which is why labor is quite a bit. Hope that helps, lmk

Hi, I got an issue with my '16 tundra that I would like some help with. the Blind Spot Monitor keeps on giving me problems. It frequently said to take the vehicle to the dealer and stops working. After a few hours, and shutting of the truck, it goes back to normal. Today I noticed that as soon as I turned on the headlights, the trouble light went on. I am starting to think that there might be a loose connection or a short. I am currently driving in mild(Los Angeles) weather, so I don't think cold climate is the problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Thanks, I think you might have read my post wrong, the year on the TSB is 07 to 11 but the extended warranty (the other document, ZTQ) only covers up to 2010, not sure why Toyota did that. I don't think I need to replace the valve b/c there's a separate code (P0415) for that if it gets stuck and my OBDII is not throwing that code. Its just frustrating that they recognize that the 2011 year models have the issue but won't fix it.

Check to see if you have any pending codes that aren't yet throwing a 'Check Engine' / 'MIL' light. Check out the codes list here.

Anyone have an intermittent power window issue? Mine will act normal at temps above 55, and below that takes several clicks to go auto down, and super slow.

    It's a '10, shouldn't need a new motor already.

Toyota Recalls Certain Vehicles for Power Window Master Switch
    October 21, 2015
TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 20, 2015 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall of approximately 2,000,000 vehicles related to the driver’s side Power Window Master Switch. The involved vehicles include certain:

    • 2007 and 2009 Camry and Camry Hybrid
    • 2009-2011 Corolla
    • 2008-2011 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid
    • 2009-2011 Matrix
    • 2006-2011 RAV4
    • 2009-2011 Sequoia
    • 2009-2011 Tundra
    • 2006-2010 Yaris
    • 2009-2011 Scion xB
    • 2009-2010 Scion xD
The Power Window Master Switch in the involved vehicles may have been manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease. If not enough grease is applied, under certain conditions the switch may develop a short circuit that can cause the switch assembly to overheat and melt. A melting switch can produce smoke and potentially lead to a fire.

Toyota previously recalled certain 2007-2009 model year vehicles for a similar condition. This Safety Recall adds vehicles not previously involved in the prior action that utilized an alternative lubricant application method.

Owners of the involved vehicles will be notified by first class mail. Toyota dealers will inspect the switch and apply heat-resistant grease. If the switch is not operating normally, an internal circuit board will be replaced.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting toyota.com/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Safety Recall inquiry by individual VIN is also available at the NHTSA site: safercar.gov/vin. For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331, or Lexus Customer Service at 1-800-255-3987.

Just had a guy at work put a mirror assembly on the drivers side eon one for that complaint. He had a code tho that steered him that way. Bring it in to a dealer and have them take a look

Ok, so I replaced the #2 air pump this weekend and NOW I have the P2442 code that says the switching valve is stuck open. Weird thing is the part numbers don't make it clear on which valve is which. ARG! So I ordered the 'right' side valve since the repair instructions for 'Bank 2' indicate that its on the right side (passenger) of the engine. The repair doesn't look too bad, i guess they moved things around slightly for 2011, the left valve doesn't require anything to be removed first and the right valve only requires the main air intake hose to be removed.
