Seriously everytime i see my property tax and there is charges for schools it pisses me off. Part of the reason also I want to use the public school is that I am already paying for it and will be as long as I own the house in the area (or anywhere else for that matter).

I do not have kids, nor do I want them but have zero issue with my taxes going to the public school system.
A healthy society does not work with “fuck you i got mine” as a foundation.

Agreed, but with the caveat of those that do attend aren’t treated as domestic terrorists for doing so.

Touche. I have to say though, for some reason I'm comforted that Mx is from the 70s and not something someone invented 2 years ago. Tells me it's a fad thing and it'll go in and out of style like bellbottoms lol

We thought about wrapping the kids in bubble wrap, but ended up just praying we were doing our best & hoping no one ended up in jail.

I guess i should have quoted the post before, they said they hated their taxes going to public schools.
And mentioning a healthy society, where people have what they need, absolutely has to do with the topic as to why someone would consider putting armor on their kids. School shootings are not normal outside of the USA.
Anyway, I have been on Reddit long enough to know there is no point in discussing things with people who have their minds made up. FYI it is “has” not “hass”

My GF worked at a Catholic school in the office a few years ago. She would tell me at times that doors would remain open that were supposed to be locked all the time. No armed security, the father didn’t care and nobody really cares at all about the security of the children. My GF was basically the security, she had to confront a stranger that was walking the grounds near the buses unloading children one morning. And she had her CCW and always had her Sig P365 in her carry purse just for the reason that if something were to happen she could defend herself or the kids. She spoke out often about the security issue but nobody did anything. Oh they did have one safety device, it was a no firearms sign, Lol!

What does it matter how a teacher identifies? What does that have to do with school safety? As it has been stated before, we send our kids to public school vs home school to expose them to the real world and let them make their own decisions. Good for that teacher . They are opening themselves up for scrutiny by dip shits who seem to think they have a "right" to be in others business. These dip shits that have such a problem with the LGBTQ community are going down in history with those who don't like people of color moving into their neighborhoods. What I find really hard to explain to my 6th grader is why the LGBTQ people are getting so much hate from those who think they have a god given right to condemn others.

I did. It wasn’t that difficult but it was a tedious amount of paperwork, and took a few years.

It’s much harder to immigrate to the USA than many counties, including Canada. Canada is trying to bring in 500k immigrants this year. If you’re in the trades you can even get a fast pass in. Of course if you’re rich, an entrepreneur, or a doctor that helps as well.

    https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio.../services/immigrate-canada/express-entry.html

    https://www.canadacis.org/blog/immigration-to-canada-vs-the-usa/

you used to be able to get into Portugal or Greece or even Italy fairly easily with golden visas or a large “investment” into the country including such things as purchasing property.

Gonna say nope to that. Before the world shut down due to The Great Panic, we were trying to move to the US. I'm a journeyman welder, have a bunch of industry training tickets, am an emergency medical responder and have NFPA firefighting certificates. The Woman has a degree in early childhood education. Basically we're educated, trained, hard working people who want to contribute to society.

We spoke with 2 different immigration lawyers and dug and dug. My trade tickets and her degree didn't fall into any of the "in demand" categories. Even with a job offer, it would have been a very hard and long process to get approved. The most effective way would have been to invest $500K USD into a US business, basically buying our way in. We don't have that kinda scratch. The one lawyer we spoke to actually said we had a better chance of getting into the US by flying to Mexico and sneaking across the border. Canadians don't qualify for the Green Card Lottery either.

Maybe things have changed since 2018/2019 with US immigration allowances though. We may try again in the future, but our circumstances have changed so we're stuck here for a while.

To be honest with you I was thinking after a few sentences reading your post, go to Mexico and just walk in from there. I have heard of many people doing that from Europe or other places you don't typically hear about in regards to illegal border crossings.

I think covid and some of its policies made it harder to come here recently, yes. That's fair. But in all honesty I have some pretty worthless family that get to this country pretty easily and with not much money and they are a negative when it comes to contributing to society. No offense to you, half jokingly, it's probably hard for you because you are a honest and normal person trying to follow the rules lol.

To the OP: just buy the backpacks. I’d do the same with my kids. Just buy the armor that can handle rifle rounds.

My plan is to homeschool and take our kids to church functions to hopefully meet some other christian-raised kids they can be friends with. Its not a guarantee that those kids will be good, but at least they are being exposed to morality more than some kids. Plus I can meet their parents and find out how serious they are about teaching good vs evil, right vs wrong.

I kind a figured that the whole point of moving to the US was build a better life for me and my family, get good jobs, be able to engage more in my hobby of firearms etc. Seems like that would be difficult to do if we were illegal immigrants.

Personally I don't care what anyone does. When I start caring when someone tries forcing their beliefs on others. Obviously you didn't read my earlier post on what that teacher was doing to my daughter, or you wouldn't have posted such an ignorant post.

Good point, and you are right. Jokes aside, you are doing it the correct way, its just sad that they make it harder for a person like yourself compared to a person that is a drain to the welfare system. One of the many things wrong with this country's priorities.

I am getting one delivered later this week. I went with the standalone level 4 plate. I am going to see how it fits in different backpacks. From the dimensions, it shouldnt be an issue for any standard backpack. I dont mind having an extra plate if it doesnt end up working out. I may even bite the bullet and conduct my own testing at the range, just for extra piece of mind.

Make sure you get involved in the school board meetings and maybe even the PTA. My wife was on it for a while and was able to get a new playground and some security upgrades though donors. (65k)

Oh, I definitely plan on getting involved. PTA for sure and I was also planning on talking with the principal and the on site LEO (hopefully there is one) about allowing me to carry on campus on Fridays as volunteer security for the perimeter of the school or even unarmed if necessary.

It appears you have shone a very bright light onto the otherwise dim world of an online virtue signaler. It's a shame a flamethrower wasn't available.

It might be difficult (even frowned upon) to be armed on school property due to state/fed laws. Worth the ask though. Worse they can say is "no"....

On a side note, you might be surprised at how safe your children are in the city.

I live out in the county and have been disappointed at the level of awareness I have to maintain out here (and what has happened in the past 5 years). My kids school is just down the road 1/4 mile. That didn't give me a warm and fuzzy for sure. We had a school lockdown a while back due to a standoff with police in a neighborhood close by (we didn't have that information at the time). Had I went down to the school armed, that would have been disastrous to my health. A few sheriff deputy units were sent to the school for added safety. They had us covered and were there before I received the notification.

Agreed, but in Ca, there is a specific exemption of written permission to do so being allowed.
