30 miles and not even two days of ownership and I have this door ding. Right through to the bare metal. I don't even recall parking near anyone! I may be sick...

Funny thing is, I don't see paint transfer or a dent. It is a weird gouge of some sort...

Possibly. I never heard it hit, but stranger things... Glad my wife's van and my truck share the same paint code. I have touch up paint for it...

That sucks man. First is always the hardest. I always park in BFE and it never fails that some a-hole will park next to me . Ever since I got sliders I haven't seen any new ones. In fact I've come out a couple times and noticed a different color paint on the sliders where someones door hit lol.

Sucks to happen so soon. Every time I go somewhere someone door dings my truck. Had two people back into it already. People just don't care. That's why I park next to the most expensive car in the parking lot... maybe they care enough about their car not to hit my truck

I am thinking it has to be a rock. No way a door would have been so clean to leave no dent or paint.

i keep saying to myself that i'm going to install a DVR system, (not a dash cam) with 4 cameras in my truck so i can see what goes on when i'm not there.
not that i are about scratches or dings, but for other madness.

BTW, if anyone needs any M105 cutting polish and is in the area, let me know. I now have what could be 100 gallons of the stuff, when I needed a drop to remove wet sanding marks. $33 a bottle!!

Feel the pain. Mine is only a month old now, and a week or two in got a ding right under the drivers side door handle. My touch paint just arrived, and I have the Langka "Chip Repair Kit" at home... will let you know how the combo works out.

Yeah let me know. I have Dr. Color Chip from another car. Never thought about using the solution with my OE touch up paint. Maybe should have tried that....

I did it by hand without a power tool and it worked perfectly. Right tool for the job there. There is a reason it costs so much I guess...

I've heard that in situations like this a good stress reliever is to get a baseball bat and beat up a trampoline. (Ask Snookie)

Well that trampoline did attached his truck after all. If I ever find that rock I will stick it in a press machine....starting googling how much would a spray and blend would cost. I need to stop obsessing.

I went to several shops and learned that it was either replace the door skin or the entire door so I decided to leave it and not look at it. Still haunts me cause the truck is still really clean. The tundra was only a few months old when i did that. The upside was it put my wife on board for purchasing sliders instantly!

So because I am so beside myself over this, I asked the dealer body shop to quote a real repair. It would require repainting the entire door basically at around $450. I am crazy for considering right? Please tell me I am crazy. The touch up job is okay and no one but me can see it unless I show them, but it is the whole fact I am under a week of owning a truck I plan to keep for at least 10 years that makes me nuts. I need some perspective. Not sure if this is the place for that though, haha.

Thanks RR. Yeah that is where I am trying to get my head to. If I had the crap luck to get a gouge after 30 miles new, what could happen 6 months into a door repaint? I think if it was further down the road it wouldn't bother me as much, but I also have the tendency to want to do things right away and not be patient. I just need to let time go by. I know another blemish is just around the corner, I was just not planning on this so soon!
