I have both. The gen 2 is a hell of a lot quicker. My 17 is a crew max 4wd with bigger tires and a lift. The 2011 is double cab, no lift, 2wd. The differences account for some of it, but I don’t think it’s very much. I test drove a 17 with the same specs as my 2011, and it was a huge drop off.
They’re just geared differently. My 2011 feels like a rocket taking off.

And yeah, the tow button truck gets the gen 3’s close, but the gen 2’s have the same button. I never used it because I didn’t want my neck broken.

Which tuner did you get? I have bully dog BDX. I was on the performance throttle response and felt that it was a little much. I put it back to stock for my own reasons. But I was hoping there was something in between. There are two other options on mine. Economy and trail. Any experience with these?

My tucks were very similar only diff, the 2007 was DC and the 2017 is CM, both 4x4, both 5.7

What is the gear ratio that Toyota switched to from '07 to '17?

Pretty sure same thing. I think the 4.6/4.7 model’s came with 4.10 gears and the other option is 4.33 gears

Toyotas response to complaints: "Well, if you don't like the dinner I've made for you, you can go to bed with no dinner"!!!!

It seems so reasonable to say yes, it was a bit touchy, lets set give the customer a couple of settings and or options for them to choose.

My brother in law drove my 07 a while back. He said it reminded him of learning to drive a stick shift. Lot's of whiplash. He's been wanting a Tundra ever since.

I've got the same tuner and it's been in performance mode since I installed. I've got no experience with the other settings but I should probably give 'em a try.

My friend had a 2010 and now has a 2015, and he misses the snappy throttle response of his 10. For me, my 2018 is my first Tundra and my previous truck was a 2016 Turd Gen Taco, so even with the reduced throttle response, my Tundra feels like a complete monster to me. In tow/haul mode it's friggin' incredible. I guess I don't know what I'm missing!

So, your BD tune is that customize-able? Like @15whtrd, I've got performance and 2 other options and that's it as far as I know.

Yeah we’ve got stock, economy, performance and trail.
They are somewhat customizable. Besides the three tunes and stock you can also pick and choose what you want to be tuned. Transmission, speed limiter etc. you can also turn off the alarm chirp and a few other functions.

Have never driven a Gen 3, but I've always liked my '13, and now liking it even more with the DAP tune and elimination of the torque reduction.

    And of course, it's WHITE!!

I haven't played with mine. I had BD on the phone for the install and haven't hooked it back up yet. I'm fine with a wrench, a saw, a hammer but put a keyboard in front of me and my stupidity rises to the top like cream on milk.
