I'm amazed at your ability to make yourself a victim of market adjustments when you haven't even bought a truck.

Hopefully the tidal wave of repos coming will finally make the trucks cheap enough that your wife will let you buy one. You obviously want one VERY much. Unlike you hoping bad things happen to other people, I hope you get your dream truck one day soon. It's a freaking awesome ride!

Oh I don’t actually sell cars or work for a dealership. I just like having fun with lazy-minded rubes who jump to conclusions.

For someone who has zero interest in a 3rd gen, you sure do spend a lot of time in the 3rd gen forum. I wonder what that's all about. :monocle:

I’m seeing tons of new gen 3’s on the road, but also deals starting to appear like Pros at MSRP with maybe $3k in dealer addons, so I think supply and demand are starting to normalize. I’m pretty sure I’m in one of, if not the biggest Tundra markets, so it might not be happening everywhere yet.

I’m confident you’ve been taken in a lot more of than you think. It was disappointingly easy for me to do it. People like you are incapable of viewing situations from multiple angles. You only absorb information that already fits your pre-conceived worldview.
All that has to be done is to feed you something to seize on. From there it’s a cakewalk.

He knows I don’t sell cars. If you were half as smart as you portray yourself you’d have easily caught on to that. Like I said, just feed you what you want to hear and watch you eat it up.

There's a dealer selling to themselves and driving up the costs, a sign the market is still lopsided

In the Nashville area and most of Tennessee, still above MSRP. The dealers that have trucks are the more basic ones. I wanted a Capstone and one dealer was 20k over. I told him to his face that was bullsh$t.
The dealers that sell at MSRP have month long waitlists that seem to never change.
I wanted out of my 2017 F150 King Ranch bad enough that I was willing to pay 3k over. Had to buy warranty ( which was about 1k more than fees shown on here, but they did drop cost to meet the quotes we get here) and use their finance.
I traded my truck and put down an extra 20k in cash.
4.25% and I can pay off in 6 months.
I was worried that I would have to do a new transmission on the Ford and the sunroof was gonna need fixing, both at least 5k worth of repairs, plus it had a few scrapes and dings.
They gave me what they quoted sight unseen.

All said, yes… around here anyone that has a Pro, Capstone, 1794 or the higher end ones will pay over MSRP.
I do love my truck and am glad to be back with Tundra. My nephew has my 2006 I bought new and I traded my 2012 for the F150.
    Rick

It seems interesting to me that the overwhelming majority of posts seem to think that just around the corner there will be a return to below MSRP prices / massive discounts like the good old days. I think dealerships and manufacturers may not want to return to this past as it's really not in their best interest. Why would dealerships want to go back to having a huge inventory they're paying interest on and pay to advertise huge discounts on different forms of media when all you have to do is keep supply at a pace which almost matches demand. Just saying...........

You just don't understand how business works. If the market is willing to pay a certain price for a product, they're not going to just sell it for less than that because they feel bad for people. It's a business, not a charity. Don't like what they're selling at the price they're selling? Don't buy it. It's that simple.

Quoting myself for reference. So I stopped off at the dealer with my son to take care of his car on Saturday. I then checked out the lot and they had very little inventory. Nothing has changed since covid, they basically just aren't getting any inventory. Sales guy didn't know why. They normally cut a deal at this place, but not now. Everything was at MSRP or what looked to be higher (I didn't verify).

Sales guy saw me looking at Tundras and insisted on running numbers after I told him I haven't had a car payment since 2013 on my Tundra, and it was only $320, and that there was no way I'll get into a $800+ car payment. He kept insisting thinking he could convince me. So I happily humored him and took a test drive in a SR5 4x4 + TRD package, which was the only model they had in the color I would be interested in (Army Green). Truck felt and looked good. Then he came back with a $1000 payment (or $800 on a lease) with my trade, which they offered $12000.

I happily drove away in my Gen 2.

Hold on a second a Tundra is considered a luxury vehicle? Well I guess everyone must have a different view and opinion. :D

@War Machine Jason, I look at my Tundra as a work horse to allow me to earn money, hence my work truck. Of all people here I would think you get that, but I agree buy it at market adjusted values or not. Not all Tundras being purchased are being bought by individuals, but by companies. So the choice is not to buy from dealers who advocate the market adjustment? Ok great, but when the majority of dealers are doing that in your area, what do you do then? As a company we moved away from the big three for vehicle replacements. Got tired of always going to the dealer service bays for one issue or the other. I can't honestly say that my Tundra has been perfect, but it has been much better then the American counter parts.

Where I have the problem is when companies are looking to replace vehicles within the fleet and these dealers are jacking up the prices to make a profit is kinda BS. Dealers make good money on sales of vehicles, but their bread and butter is from the service bays. While an individual might go in there and buy 1-2 vehicles at a time. Companies would probably go in and buy the same every month. So when looking to replace some of my vehicles at my company. They did the same game with the market adjustments. We told them flat at no and did business elsewhere. At the end it was a probably a good thing I needed three vehicles to be traded in, these were for sales staff. So for the price that Toyota wanted for their Tundras, we ended putting them into the BMW's X Series. Not only did we get our discounts, High trade in values, longer warranties and happier sales staff.

The bottom line, if I did the same thing these dealers are doing towards individuals and companies alike. I would be called many things from my current and future clients. Mosty likely wouldn't survive very long and go out of business. Since these dealers in my area alot of them are being flagged as not to do business with now or in the future. Eventually most of these firms will regret that decision.

Just my .02 and Jason I do consider your Tundra Luxury....I mean that truck is so clean that Pigeons are afraid to go near it...:D
