Get the BDs though for while you are driving then when you dismount go to your floodzandbeamz. It’s game changing. Also if you have light coming from the dash, I took pelican case foam and cut it to fit my display and it fits in there like a glove and blacks out everything.

We use a shitload of E tape I have pelican foam everywhere. Good call. This truck only goes into town for service so it’s not a huge deal

Id like to see the solution to this as well. Couple of trips into the city during the "mostly peaceful protests" summer of 2020 and i had Roscoe sitting along the trans tunnel, not secure but very accessible. Was wishing for a ceiling mount then.
Long time back on disaster preppers TV series, guy had his center console modified to hold an SBR. I think it was in a Tahoe? Anyway, I'm thinking how feasible/ difficult it would be to modify something like the car fire extinguisher mounts to the roof?
Are there ribs under the headliner that would support an AR?

All bs aside it seems like this approach is so niche it will be hard to find something perfect. Maybe custom is the way to go.

Wondering if you could get one of these to work? Maybe bolt into the plastic trim molding instead of having to go into the headliner.

maybe I can get into the the metal braces in between the roof and the headliner and drill two fist clamps into them directly.

This works for certain scenarios. I need the roof mount for different reason.

So this company has some other offering. This particular one mounts up the headliner; overtime you'll probably have a saggy liner if it bears too much weight on it. Looks good for a handgun though.

The other option mounts up to the "oh shit" handles in the back. I think that is a better mounting point and support than the "B" pillar plastic of the option in the op. The only issue is you have to reach further back to grab your boomstick.

I was just gonna pop in here and recommend looking at this. Not sure how to mount to roof interior without being able to drill through the top but I’m sure someone can think of something

I contacted them and the owner answered and sent me an email showing how a four runner owner modded that one to work by using some hardware purchased locally. This may be the ticket.

You understand my issue. I am thinking that extinguisher mount or some quick fist clamps directly to the cross bars above the headliner will be the most low profile option but getting that math right is a drill once option. Otherwise my headliner will look like @Saltyhero13 25 yard el presidente targets. Holes everywhere.

Nice, care to share that information? I might be interested in a similar setup….did they provide pictures / list of hardware? Inquiring minds want to know! Lol

A few years back while doing security detail for new AG Loretta Lynch in Brooklyn, on the left is the trusty MP5 lying next to the trans tunnel that we, FBI Police were assigned at the time and then on the right was in one of the agent's vehicles with the fancy/schmancy AR or M4 depending who was working. We had no rack at all for it in the marked vehicles.

Neither of those positions will work for what I am looking for. Only going for overhead options at this time. Thank you for that though sir (and for you having to "Utah make it two") while doing security for her.

Check the build link in my signature.
Those seem pretty light duty after watching the install video.
And it says no sunroof (which I have), though I can’t see where it would make any different since it is bridging from side handle to side handle

Yeah, was just thinking back to the times we could have used something overhead to keep our tools out of the footwells. Was a couple pretty good food spots right close if I remember correctly...
