Another post about aquariums got me thinking to start a thread to show off anyone's own aquariums. I didn't want to highjack his post so started this one. What do you have?

    Here is mine:

I don't have an aquarium but I saw one that was very impressive years ago. I was in a house that had a salt water aquarium so big they wore scuba gear to go in and clean the tank. It was in the center of the house and it was 3 stories high so it could be seen on all 3 floors of the house.

You also had to cross a private gated bridge to access the property with a vehicle.

This was my saltwater aquarium that I took down last year. Its such an expensive hobby if you want good equipment and its a TON of work. I had everything computerized and I still couldnt keep up with it. This was a 12G Tank and I had over $4,000 into it.

Yeah, Salt is VERY expensive. I dont know how some of those guys do it. My local fish store owner says it's easy, but I'm not buying it. My fresh water isn't too hard to maintain. The worst part is cleaning the glass, then it's just adding water and changing the filter pads in the sump. Other than that, it's pretty easy and self sufficient.

It's been 7 years since I took her down, but this was my baby (before we actually had a baby). 560 gallons, 4'x8' saltwater reef tank. I built it from scratch, stand, hood, sump, and the tank itself. It was sad to see her go, but it is a big commitment of time and treasure to maintain something like that, and in the end, we took another direction...

Freshwater can be just as hard and as expensive. Most my fresh water tanks are 50% weekly water change situation since they are high light / high fertilizer / co2 induced tanks.

Yeah, it all depends what you are using it for. Mine is really easy anyway. Do a water change every few weeks. Have to add water from time to time due to evaporation to keep the sump full. Hardest part is cleaning the glass.

Thanks. Maybe, I do miss it, but I'm not in any rush right now.

Thank you. Planted tanks can be every bit as hard as reefkeeping, like anything else, it is all about how far you want to take it.

    Nice stuff!

I went out of control. Bought my kids a beta in a 1.5g. A month later dropped about $3-4K into setting up my big tank. Lol

We have about 6 tanks in the house now

Tiny compared to some of you, but 29 gallon fresh water, just did a make over today!

Before: Just didn't turn out how I wanted it. Looks good in photos.

After: Much brighter looking tank, will post a new pic when water fully clears.

@HBdirtbag do you still have tanks? Those are so nice!

I've kept fish just about 30 years and started dabbling in live plants. I always thought they caused algae but I decided to try them. I had 3 small anubias in this tank for 2 years, they didnt die but always looked wilted or filthy.

When I moved the only spot for a tank is near a window that gets morning light but none after 10am. I got algae blooms anyway so I picked up two more anubias, four java Fern and several 6" strands of anacharis. I'm fighting what I believe to be blackbeard algae but other than that the plants seem to be growing. I run an old Finnex planted+ LED light for 6 hours a day, might cut down to 5. I'm trying to master basic plants that are cichlid compatible because I have a 135 gallon to set up here after Christmas. I'm planning to have it overloaded with similar plants.

    20190912_203208.jpg

    38 gallon
Really old lava rock with ultra fine gravel
Fluval 110 with fine floss, extra biomax and purigen.
    Voyager sicci nano powerhead
    1 gold sexfasciatus
    1 leliupi
    1 julidichromis transcriptus
    1 petricola
1 pleco (thought to be a rubber nose hybrid)

Picked up 160lbs of Mexican cobble. Looks like black pumice stone to me, should look really nice with some plants growing out of the grooves and holes. I think the surface area will be a great place for bacteria too. I'm going to set up a 10 gallon to grow out plants and also put this rock in my 38, but eventually it's going in my 135 gallon once I set it up. Gathering a little bit at a time for that.

Playing with the 10 gallon outside right now. Just wanted to see the contrast on the ivory sand, once the water clears it will look nice.

    Updates.
    20191102_194343.jpg
I picked up an albino bristle nose pleco a month back. He did alright for two weeks but once the catfish realized he was no longer at the bottom of the hierarchy the poor pleco lived in fear under stones. So I just finished setting up a 10 gallon for him to grow out in.

Scaping is temporary with several baby ferns from my other tank. I have a few other plants coming soon and a going to play with java moss. So far he is looking very comfortable, maybe he knows that he blends in with the sand.
    20191130_092505.jpg

Meanwhile in the bigger tank, my juli has more than doubled in size and my leliupi has gained size as well. The leliupi is constantly trying to hang out with the sexfasciatus and displays what might be mating shimmies all the time. I really love this cobble stone, so much room for bacteria growth, the texture makes stacking more stable, and yet the surface doesn't scratch up my fish. Plus its black.
    20191010_195342.jpg

Some of the baby Fern, it's been very easy to propagate.

Got a bunch of new plants in.
    20191206_163819.jpg

Some standard java moss, a big clump of hornwort, 3 anubias afzelii, 2 E. Cordifolius (?) And 2 Uraguanesis (?)
Not sure what variety of swords these are, it was a seller picks deal.

I put the anubias in with my cichlids and gave them a clump of that hornwort as a Christmas tree, it is every bit as messy as a Christmas tree. Little needles all over.

    20191206_170611.jpg
    20191206_170620.jpg

The rest I threw into the 10 gallon. I'll worry about scaping this weekend or maybe even later. For now I just wanted to get them in the tank and gt the light on. After I scape a bit I'll probably get some shrimp and small tetra or something in here. This tank is temporary anyway but this pleco is too elusive to enjoy.
    20191206_174407.jpg

Just noticed, I got a bonus plant. Not sure what it could be but that's exciting.

Gave in, got a 20 long. I'm not happy with the scape but it will evolve once I get more plants going. Wife said she likes it o_O plants seem to be doing okay, I can't wait for them to grow.

    20191212_161713.jpg

I moved the two swords off the rock and into the lava. I took a few baby java ferns and glued them to the rock. Also have a branch I'm sinking in a bucket, I'm planning to glue some moss to the branches and attempt a bonsai.
