Kenwood cable arrived ....taking two with me to the shop so they can try them out. Already hooked the firestick up to my phone as the hotspot.

Where did you buy the cable from. I've searched the major online retailers and they are all sold out

I got it on ebay from a reseller in Europe. Not cheap....I think Kenwood has discontinued them. When I am at the dealer this weekend I will try to get the brand and model of cord they have been using with this unit.

I’m having trouble finding the factory controls that were normally accessible on the factory HU. Things like changing the door lock settings, bed light settings, etc. I can’t seem to find them on the new Kenwood HU. Anyone else having the same issue?

Nope. I think it's in a setting called OEM setup.

Definitely cheaper and much more available than the kenwood one. Plus it is thinner also. Glad it worked for you. Enjoy the radio.

So I installed the below two cables that you guys recommended and the screen mirroring works perfect.

But when I put everything back together, the mic doesn’t seem to want to work (I can make the phone call, hear the person, but they can’t hear me). I’m losing daylight so I’ll pull the stereo out again tomorrow and see if I accidentally disconnected a mic connection or something.

You may have knock the mic loose. Tugging and pulling the radio will cause that sometime.

Unfortunately I believe you’re right. Today was my first time pulling out a stereo and getting it back in with all those wires was a pain. Not looking forward to doing it again haha

I'm assuming this is for the 1007xr only? I have a 1057xr. My stock Stereo has the weather pop up but I think its getting its data via bt from my phone? I do have a traffic map on my stock Stereo but no Nav.
Haven't installed the 1057xr yet, just gathering all the necessary stuff and info before I make the switch.

I also have the 1057xr. The kenwood traffic is for the weather widget and you can also download kenwood portal if you want to use your photos as a wall paper

Sure. If you go back to page 4. Post #115. I post how i have mine run. I dont have any photos from behind the radio. Only the hdmi cable coming from the radio to apple adapter and the firestick. Depending on what i want to use, all i have to do is pull the hdmi cable off the apple adapter and plug that into the firestick.

    Here’s some more photos.
Don’t mind the fingerprint. The screen is a total print magnet. Hope these help some.
They are essentially the same radio. Kenwood put better UI in their though. But performance wise, same.

I think the 1057xr have navigation built in. You just gotta ask yourself, do you use it often enough to justify the extra cost? Will you mainly use apple carplay or android auto and use google maps or waze?
Yes, cell phone will have dead zone/spot. But if you plan ahead, you can download offline map to Google maps for area where you will be traveling. I understand having it there already loaded is nice. But, roads are always changing or being worked on. The preloaded Map couple outdated when you actually use it. Just something to ponder. Can’t go wrong with either. The sound quality will make it worth the price.

Well just swapped out the hdmi cord to the Kenwood I found and everything works great....the brake wire had already been grounded which I guess they do automatically on these... Hooked the firestick up to my phones hotspot and we are off to the races...

there is the 1037....1057( think the only difference is higher watt output on any speakers that plug into the HU) and 1007. 1007 has garmin built in....I do a lot of backcountry stuff so spent the money on the garmin model. The sound is amazing....always better to swap a hu if you are just tweaking a bad signal out of the JBL.

Where are you guys mounting the receiver? I want to be able to hide the cables. The roku stick that I am using needs line of sight for the remote to work

They ran the cable into the center console box...usb port is there for power. My remote does not need line of sight and works fine while the firestick is in the console lid down.
